Appropriation my ass.
So! Disney is at it again! I'm sorry, but I feel like it's time for 'white' people to tell the world, that it is not okay to apply double standards. I agree with people who say 'Do not appropriate our culture'. Well, guess what. That goes BOTH ways. DO NOT take a European fairytale, part of OUR culture and US growing up with, and twist it into something IT IS NOT for the sake of 'inclusion'. Especially when you LITERALLY change the complete plot. Name it something else and don't pretend it is SNOW WHITE you're filming! And a HUGE shoutout for showing her own disregard for our culture to the actual Snow White actress, Rachel Zegler, a Colombian actress, who thought it was fine to say "It's not 1937" and "She’s not gonna be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love.". THEN MAKE YOUR OWN FUCKING MOVIE ABOUT IT AND DON'T APPROPRIATE OUR FUCKING CULTURE! What you said changes the whole purpose of the fairytale and even throws shade on the REAL meaning of this story! Those doing good and being polite being literally incapacitated by greedy and evil people and the virtue of perserverance, of patience, which wins in the end, remaining victorious over those who wished to make her fall. If you are unable to see THOSE meanings, you absolutely are unfit to depict Snow White of all people.
The literally PUREST of all Princesses, because all she ever wanted was to be loved by her jealous step-mother, being seen as the good person she is. There is nothing screaming that she's 'waiting to be rescued by Prince Charming'. She's not a victim of a toxic male, she's a victim of a toxic FEMALE.
She's not waiting for someone to save her, she runs away and tries to make a life for herself, with her toxic step-mother following her and trying to kill her, so she's the most beautiful woman in the country.
Like LITERALLY stalking and attacking her for something as shallow as BEAUTY, when her step-daughter RAN AWAY to be LEFT ALONE. Disney, this is your end. You have been appropriating cultures for long enough, I guess. I do hope you fall as hard as you deserve to. And I really hope this appropriation enabling actress gets hers as well.
