there is a lot but I don’t think my answer on this will ever, ever change

it’s the series of events taking place from late august 2011 through early october 2011

when louis tweeted that the public “knows too much” the day before leeds festival:

then they’re pictured all over the place at leeds smiling and sparkling and having the time of their lives, and are reported publicly to be living together, allllll right before louis is papped out with E for the first time.

then the day after elouno goes public, AIMH happens

while H continues to wear the leeds festival bracelet forever like he was clinging on to the memory amidst hard events that followed.

here’s a collection of lyrics from harry’s house that stick out to me or that I deem significant and a bit of my reasoning. bear in mind this all just my opinion and to put them all in one place. i’ve found that looking at individual lyrics rather than a “larry song” as a whole is much more beneficial and this album does exactly that

music for a sushi restaurant:

“green eyes, fried rice I could cook an egg on you. late night, game time coffee on the stove. you’re sweet ice cream, but you could use a flake or two. blue bubblegum twisted ‘round your tongue”

→ interesting to me because the collection of lyrics as a whole match the homey, domestic feel of this album but harry “just so happened” to use the colors blue and green within one chunk near each other. nothing humongous but just interesting that those are always his go-to colors for everything.

“it’s cause I love you babe, in every kind of way, just a little taste, you know I love you babe”

→ obviously stands out because the lyrics match the kill my mind lyrics “just a little taste, babe.” word for word

late night talking

“It’s only been a couple of days and I miss you.”

“If you’re feeling down I just wanna make you happier baby. wish I was around I just wanna make you happier baby”

“we been doing all this late night talking about anything we want until the morning. now you’re in my life, I can’t get you off my mind.”

“I’ve never been a fan of change, but I’d follow you to any place. If it’s hollywood or bishop gate, I’m coming too.”

→ this song as a whole stands out to me because of the sense of being apart and missing each other, as well as the themes of being someone else’s comfort/uplifting them which was very present in h&l’s songwriting throughout 1D and now. the concept of sharing a bed as well, i.e. “we’ve been doing all this late night talking.”

“yesterday it finally came, a sunny afternoon, I was on my way to buy some flowers for you. thought that we could hide away in the corner of the heath, there’s never been someone who’s so perfect for me.”

→ the concept of hiding away in a romantic context really stuck out to me given h&l’s rough situation. and the last line draws parallels to their many lyrics regarding a long term relationship and is simply just cute so i had to note it :’)

“sitting in the garden, i’m a couple glasses in. I was tryna count up all the places we’ve been. you’re always there, so don’t overthink”

→ pretty self explanatory. lots of world traveling, i.e. counting all the places they’ve been

daylight

“I’m on the roof, you’re in your airplane seat. I was nose-bleedin, looking for life out there. reading your horoscope, you were just doing cocaine in my kitchen, you never listen, I hope you’re missing me by now.”

→ stuck out to me because it seems to detail one of them traveling while the other is home, and the missing me lyric seems interesting in the same context (i.e. you’re traveling right now, I hope you miss me) but it could be unrelated

“If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you. you’d be the spoon, dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you.”

→ if i could fly parallels!! also just simply mushy and cute

“we’re on bicycles, saying there’s life out there. you’ve got the antidote, I’ll take one to go, go please”

→ referencing love as a painkiller is a huge trend in h&l’s songwriting about each other; it was featured in my larry lyric parallels youtube video so i was pleasantly surprised to see him use this lyric again.

little freak

“stay green a little while, you bring blue lights to dreams.”

→ self explanatory. they pain me sometimes. i genuinely can’t believe he did this, it’s like my 2022 princess park haha

cinema

“it’s you, and i’m not getting over it. darling is it cool if i’m stubborn when it comes to this?”

→ long term relationship parallels!

keep driving

okay, this whole song is a standout on this album because of this (which is awfully awfully wholesome) and also this post that i have a screenshot of, but couldn’t find the original poster. if you know please let me know:

“we share the last line, then we drink the wall ‘till we wanna talk.”

→ jumped out to me a bit just because of h&ls constant communication parallels. another one from my youtube video on their songwriting

love of my life

“we don’t really like what’s on the news, but it’s on all the time.”

→ another pretty self explanatory one. in relation negative media stories, stunts, etc.

“i take you with me every time i go away, in a hotel using someone else’s name.”

→ this was another lyric i couldn’t believe was on the album. the first line either referencing traveling with louis’ clothing, the blue bandana, or something like that OR the first line going directly with the second referencing louis secretly traveling with him. either way it’s loud

“it’s unfortunate, just coordinates.”

→ harry released coordinates a while ago for harry’s house pop up shops that were oh so conveniently related to louis. then in a song called love of my life, he references coordinates? just really jumped out to me

There’s been one question I can’t stop thinking about: why?

I think in this fandom it’s necessary to stop for a second and ask ourselves if we might be wrong. And that’s okay. I’ve always liked to look at all sides, even the ones I don’t agree with. I think it’s necessary to understand the full picture.

I’ve chosen to support two boys who, I believe, loved or love each other, and who are in the closet. Not because I want to believe it, but because even after hearing the antis and seeing their “proof,” I still find more truth in what’s being hidden than in what’s being shown.

I’ve been in the fandom for about five years. I didn’t live through 1D in real time, but I’ve done my research. And even though in recent years Louis has been presented as a strong, straight man, a father, a family guy — I can’t ignore everything that came before. The signs are there. They’re not made up. They happened. They’re real.

So why so much effort to deny something that once was so obvious? Why deny it so aggressively? Why erase such an important part of his story?

I understand that if you only look at the last three years, all of this might sound ridiculous. But you can’t just erase the rest. You can’t deny a whole decade of glances, lyrics, silences, symbols, gestures.

You can see how far they’ve stretched this stunt. Louis commenting on Z’s post triggered all kinds of reactions — people saying he’s never been so emotionally open, that he was never like this with Eleanor. So why now? Why like this? Why so many denials of Larry lately, and done in such an aggressive, defensive way? Why did his team — I think it was the hair stylist, I don’t remember her name — speak badly about Larries? Why did his sisters deny it too? Why so much effort to erase something so big?

I understand that some people only see the recent image, but I can’t. And I believe many of us can’t either. You can’t erase what’s happened over more than a decade. You can’t reduce everything to “Louis is straight and the best dad ever” and just keep pushing that endlessly, because it doesn’t make sense. Social media exists, and whether we like it or not, everything is documented (even if some things get deleted).

You can’t tell me he’s dating a reality show influencer and also say he hates that whole world.

You can’t paint him as the straightest man alive while he sings “It’s a church of burnt romances and I’m too far gone to pray / It’s a solo song and it’s only for the brave,” surrounded by flags, saying he feels safe, wearing coded clothes.

You can’t say he hates Harry Styles and that the fans destroyed their friendship, and then watch those glances, those stolen touches, those songs about a love he met at 18 and a lasting relationship.

You can’t sell me the idea that his son is his top priority when he hasn’t even protected his privacy, when he hasn’t been there in key moments.

And you can’t say he’s homophobic or uncomfortable with gay rumors when he’s been in gay bars, has a triangle tattooed on his skin, and has written “be proud” on a flag.

You can’t erase who they’ve been. Who they’ve been for more than a decade.

You can’t just cling to what’s convenient now and forget what once was so evident.

Stories don’t disappear just because no one talks about them anymore.

Gestures don’t lie. And sometimes songs scream what voices stay silent about.

You can’t reduce someone full of layers and nuance into just one thing.

You can’t say it’s all black and white when there are thousands of colors in between.

Maybe this message doesn’t make much sense, but I needed to let it out.

i agree with you 100%: it’s crucial to stop and check ourselves sometimes. to ask if we might be wrong. to stay open to being wrong. to look at every angle, even the ones that don’t match what we want to believe. that’s how we stay grounded, and that’s how we keep our integrity.

the truth is, we probably are wrong about some things. that’s just the nature of piecing together a story we weren’t meant to see. there are things we missed. things we misunderstood. things we only understood in hindsight. but at the same time — as some details have fallen away, so many more have been confirmed or made clearer with time. blocked interviews, old footage, behind-the-scenes leaks, deleted clips, unreleased lyrics — they’ve only made the picture sharper.

so when people ask, why the cover-up? why so much denial? — the answer is, because they never had another option.

this started in 2010. long before they were ready. long before they were famous enough to push back. and once the narrative was in motion, it had to keep going. the more their fame grew, the harder it was to untangle. one direction was the first social-media-made boyband, and that changed everything. before that, hiding things was easier — call up a tabloid, pose with a girl, plant a story. but as tech evolved — camera phones, twitter, stan culture — the control had to evolve, too.

and when you’re dealing with artists who can’t speak freely — who are bound by contracts, management, NDAs, and brand deals — sometimes the only option left is to erase the past and replace it with something easier to swallow.

and the truth is: most people don’t remember

they weren’t here for the beginning. they didn’t see the shift happen in real time. they’ve only seen louis post-2019. they don’t remember the glances, the lyrics, the tattoos, the interviews, the way he lit up next to harry. they never saw the subtle rebellion, the patterns, the coded language. they don’t see the full picture — because they were never given the full picture.

and unfortunately, context does disappear. media gets deleted. clips get scrubbed. narratives change. and unless you’ve spent years watching, researching, connecting dots — you’ll probably miss the nuance. and most people don’t want nuance. they want simplicity. they want red carpet kisses, instagram stories, public drama. they want what’s entertaining — not what’s true.

when your career depends on a public image, and you’re not allowed to tell the truth — you give the public a truth that works. and right now, that version of the truth is: louis is a straight, grounded solo artist dating someone who’s relevant and visible.

is it real? no. is it frustrating? absolutely. but is it strategic? without question.

if you're part of louis' team, and you're trying to keep him in the media, keep his name trending, or build a “palatable” narrative for the GP — you lean in to the image that works. and if you’re family or friends, you might go along with it (or stay silent like mark) because you know it’s not your story to fix. you know he can’t say what he wants to say — not yet. and maybe not ever. but like you said: you can’t erase a decade of truth just because it’s inconvenient now. you can’t erase the glances, the lyrics, the silences, the symbols. you can’t reduce layered, complicated people into one flat narrative.

it’s supposed to be a celebration — and in many ways, it still is. but this one… this one hits different.

this isn’t the version of the 15th anniversary we dreamed about in 2015. back then we still said hiatus like it meant something temporary. we never factored in loss.

and now we’re here. fifteen years in. older. softer. a little bruised.

and in my case, for the first time, i’m here vocally. not hiding behind anons. not lurking quietly while everyone else carries the weight. i’m just… here. saying it out loud.

this band changed my life. these boys (as messy and human and chaotic as they are) changed everything.

so tomorrow, whether you’re lighting a candle or blasting “no control” or just texting a mutual to say hey i’m thinking of you, do something kind. something liam would’ve done.

I have said, and I will maintain- that Liam was the heart and soul of One Direction. I don’t believe that the 1D I knew and loved with my whole heart still exists. It is gone. And that is… hard. And sad. As we celebrate and remember the 15 year anniversary of the formation of our favorite band of thieves, our celebration is deeply steeped in grief. And I think it’s important to make space for that.

We have lost people on this journey of course. Fans, families, and now a band member. Each one devastating in its own right- but the loss of one of the five looms over this anniversary, these memories, this home we’ve found.

So. I will make time for my grief, but not my defeat. I wholeheartedly believe that Liam would want us to come together, to remember what was, to drink in the nostalgia, to celebrate the boys and their legacies, and most importantly to celebrate and love on each other, and this community we’ve built together.

It was Liam who said how much it meant to him that we found each other through the band. It was Liam who so often checked in on us, who connected with us, who championed the band and their legacy, who promoted fan art and fandom connections and inside fandom jokes. And so it is in Liam’s spirit and in Liam’s memory we commemorate this moment.

hello babe!! it's always interesting me to hear how many people joined the fandom after the hiatus and only know the boys solo. sometimes it makes me feel old wah BUT let me look through the rolodex of my brain for some of my personal highlights that aren't always talked about (most will be funny moments bc theres so many good ones):

when midnight memories leaked early from the Brazilian youths, and the guys had to pretend like it hadn't and that everyone in the audience hadn't already listened to it when they were live for 7 hours on 1D Day lmao

niall not giving a fuck about the pregnant interviewer potentially going into labor

for those who weren't around when the band was active, i think it's difficult to really express how it felt to be part of something so... lightning in a bottle... as this band was. for many of us, one direction has our Youth. when we think back to our teens/early twenties we think about them. when we think of some of the happiest, most absurd, most seretonin filled times of our lives they are part of that, and nothing can ever untangle them from being such an integral piece of our growing up. and its oddly beautiful to have a relationship so significant like that with strangers because they were the soundtrack to our Youth.
