Just a little Jade and Ronin fluff. Nothing more. Iâll simply say Iâm with Jade here. Â
Jade headed through the kitchen to his garage. He was in his Porsche Cayenne, retrieving something from the glove box. She walked towards him. âHey, I was wondering ifâŚâ Â
She glanced at the other car in the garage then at Ronin then back at the car. Her eyes widened as her mouth dropped open. Â
âWhat?â he asked as he closed the Cayenneâs door. Â
She took a step closer. âIs that what I think it is?â Â
He glanced at the car behind him. âDepends on what you think it is.â Â
She shot him an annoyed look even as she moved closer. âThatâs a Ferrari.â Â
She touched the red hood. âPortofino?â Â
He grinned. âYes.â Â
She ran her fingers over the curves of the hood. A Ferrari. Sheâd always wanted to drive one except she knew she never would. She wouldnât have the money and if she did have the money, she had other priorities first. However, she did love these cars. She loved the old ones and the new ones and she particularly loved the ones that were the convertibles. She could imagine herself driving the back roads with nothing but the road before her and the sky above her. Sheâd choose a day with some clouds but not a lot. In fact, a day a lot like today. She wanted some blue sky but also some clouds above her to keep the glare down. Â
She closed her eyes, spreading her hand over cool metal. If it was a convertible, sheâd have the top down and sheâd have the radio blasting something good and sheâd drive. Sheâd find the best windy, twisty roads, and sheâd see how fast and how well the car would hug the road. If there was a straightaway, it would be pedal to the metal to see how fast she could go. Damn, it would be so amazing and fun andâŚÂ
Roninâs chuckle brought her out of her reverie. She opened her eyes. âWhat?â Â
He approached her. âNothing except now I think Iâm a little jealous of my car.â Â
âAnd why would you be jealous?â She turned to him as he invited her into his arms. Â
âBecause of the look on your face, like bliss.â He kissed her lightly. âIâm concerned youâre in love with my car.â Â
âWell, it is a Ferrari.â Â
He laughed again. âYeah, I know.â Â
âWhatâs not to love?â Â
âOh, many things, but none that would seem important to you.â He kissed her again, this time less lightly and more hungry. âWanna drive it?â Â
She gasped, taking an involuntary step back before bouncing her feet. âReally?â Â
His grin widened. âYes. Really.â Â
She clapped her hands rapidly before thrusting her arms into the air. âYes!â She danced in a circle. âYes! Yes! Yes!â Suddenly self-conscious, she stopped her victory dance and threw a facade of calm over her. âI mean, why, yes, Ronin. That sounds like a lovely idea.â Â
He laughed, hard, before sweeping her into her arms and kissing her thoroughly. âBrilliant. Iâll take us somewhere good then let you take over.â Â
Disappointment crossed her face and she couldnât hide. âI canât drive it there?â Â
He shook his head. âThe carâs a little wonky if youâre not used to it.â He kissed her. âPromise that if you donât stall out the car more than three times, Iâll let you drive home.â Â
âThree times?â He nodded. âOh, ye of little faith.â Â
He grinned. âTrust me.â Â
âFine,â she agreed as dramatically as she possibly could. Â
âExcellent.â He took her hand and headed back into the house. He stopped when he reached the door. âWait, what were you going to ask me about?â Â
She stared at him. âNo idea.â Â
âNope. Iâve just got fast cars and loose men on my brain now.â Â
He laughed. âHope you think Iâm the loose man in that scenario.â Â
She laughed with him. âBetter believe it, Buster.â She shooed him into the house. âNow hurry up. Iâve got some driving to do.â Â
