On Monday we learned about Greek Gods and Goddesses, discussed Greek heroes, made name tags and introduction cards, and created class notes!

| Day 2 |

On Tuesday we read the 12 labors of Heracles, learned famous sisters of Greek Myths, created our own demigods, read more Greek myths, and then played Minotaur tag!

| Day 3 |

On Monday we did introductions, went over “Do’s and Dont’s” of creating a graphic novel, set goals for the week, and did some exercises to get ready for the week ahead.

Today we started with an ice breaker!  We introduced ourselves and answered questions about ourselves.  We also had discussions about our favorite animals and our pets at home. We then went over our favorite books and why they are our favorites before listening to a short story from the book "How Long until Black Future Month"

| DAY 1 |

The class started off the week by talking about some heavy topics (fear, death, religion, etc.)! Later, they wrote answers to the Wendell Barry questionnaire.

| DAY 2 |

Our theme is Community Building. Collisions... confusion... change... celebrate. 

We read and discussed “The Ones who Stay and Fight” by N.K. Jemisin, and the poem “Late Lessons, U True, Impressims and Affirmation” and played the Ungame.

| DAY 3 |

The class read “Two Spirit” articles about gender acceptance among Native Americans and East Indians. They also read The Verdict and discussed it!

| DAY 4 |

The class interpreted English songs into ASL, learned about the different “film eyes”, and ran through an obstacle course, filmed themselves, and watched it!

| DAY 2 |

Today, the campers brainstormed their identities for a painting project next class, created mood boards, had a guest speaker and talked about art and ASL poetry.

| DAY 3 |

We had a guest speaker who performed one of his ASL Poems, we started drawing images and pictures of our identity so we can paint tomorrow.

The class began the week by filling out introductions sheets, discussing what they like about Percy Jackson books, doing character sketches, and starting their stories! They also shared their writing and designed islands for characters to visit and read a few scenes from the Percy Jackson play.

| DAY 2 |

Today, they made their own Greek shields! They also made progress on their stories. In the afternoon, they went to the MAG!

Today, the campers talked about the meaning and purpose of social justice, recited a short play about animal rights, and learned about democracy and freedoms in the book, That’s Not Fair!.

| DAY 2 |

The class came up with ideas for their peaceful protest project on equal education and animal/nature rights. They read a book about peaceful protesting for nature’s rights called The Water Walker by Joanne Robertson! They also read about Malala Yousafzai, Wangari Maathai, and Fridtjof Nansen! They also started writing their social justice skits for equal education and nature rights!

The class got quizzes on the definitions of equality, equity, privilege, bias, and biodiversity! They also wrote their first short skit on equal education and their second on endangered animals.

On the first day, the campers got to know each other, discussed the pieces they have been working on independently, and they can’t wait to show you their finished anthology this Friday!

Today, the fun continued!

The class started off the week by brainstorming how we get ideas with imagination, memory, and observation. After this, they completed two word exercises and starting recording in their idea books!

| DAY 2 | 

We described the objects we brought in our notebooks and shared them with the class. We discovered that observation is a great way to come up with some ideas. We drew fish, wrote our names in them, and wrote about where they live and what they like to eat. Then we played a game.

In the morning, we practiced poetry and drawing. After lunch, we took a talk and took black and white photos.

We spent the morning writing poems and stories based on our photos, and we spent the afternoon in the dark room!

The class spent the morning writing and sharing poems. In the afternoon, they walked around the city taking photos!

We read page 9 in Citizens: An American Lyric”. We read and discussed “Lone Wold” story. We discussed “What is heritage and it’s relevance in society”, “What are are the charactertistics of a leader” “Who are we really”, “Inside out or Outside In?” and compared Mary Revfke’s poem “trees” to page 9 of Citizens: An American Lyric” By Claudile Rankine.

We discussed survey of privileged and entitlement, and studied a quote from Gandhi today.

| DAY 3 |

The class continued our studies today and learned about what kind of listeners they are, as well as explored American past and present.

| DAY 4 | 

We wrote the cover letter and cover page for our anthology today. Although a small class, we have bonded a lot and learned a ton and can’t wait to share what we’ve come up with with you.

For our first day, we got to work with Wendy Low on creating personas for the week and talking about writing.

| DAY 2 |

We did a recap of yesterday, since today we got to work with Rylie Day as an instructor. We answered the “Big Questions” of our stories, wrote more in our stories, created character profiles, and talked about building rounded characters.

| DAY 3 |

We started class with a guided meditation. We then shared the beginning of our stories received feedback of what we liked, what questions we had, and what we thought would come next.

The class wrote and drew their own hero monologues based off of myths, took a quiz about myths, and brainstormed what types of myths they already knew of!

We learned more about Norse Mythology, read about specific gods and wrote a story to perform and looked about awesome books about different myths 

| DAY 3 |

We broke up into groups and started writing our scripts for Friday’s performance. Then, we read and listened to a story about Thor- God of Thunder! Lastly, we looked at a couple of book about Norse Mythology.

We colored puzzles, wrote name poems, went for a walk and found words, wrote Giant City Soup (a group poem with words from our walk).

We started Acrostic Writing, read inference poems and went outside to play will balloons and bubbles, wrote copies of group poems, Giant City Soup and Illustrated them. So cool!

| DAY 3 |

We walked to RMSC and looked at the exhibits CRIP Lake Ontario submarine ride- you will be missed! and we learned about and wrote haiku. 

| DAY 4 |

The class bean with introductions, learned about CNF, epiphanies, and hermit crab essays! They finished the day by exploring different writing forms.

We discussed “MATH 1619″ by Gukendolyn Wallace, lit mags with Hermit Crabs, Letter to NY prompts, and a random form prompt.

The class discussed “Trick Tip” and “How to Skin a Bird”, explored sensory details with a “tiny masters” prompt, and had open work time to develop hermit crab pieces!
