posiedon's bane: a fantastical take on the origins of the fabled legend of poseidon, the supposed weapon that could shift and alter the very tides themselves. it starts with the unlikely friendship between a young mermaid and an orphaned sea king that discover they can communicate with each other. fay's first novel that she self published primarily on her home island of farore, until managing to get it distributed wider [and translated into other languages].

shatter steel: inspired by her own journey to discover and claim her meito, the sword called severing tide. she wrote tales of it's makings, it's wielders and how it became fused with an ancient ocean spirit that still possesses it today. although the truth of any of this is certainly embellished.

skyhold: her most recent adventure story, but more so inspired by various table top roleplaying games. a group of adventurers banding together to climb a seemingly infinite tower filled with challenges, riddles, monsters to slay and treasure beyond any person's wildest dreams. they all face their own personal demons while unraveling the mastermind of skyhold's creation and stewardship.

I've mentioned before that Ophelia was not immediately recognized as the once-champ and Hero when she returned to Kalos during the events of Legends ZA. Five years is a long time for a teenager to mature into a young adult. She didn't advertise it either and actively avoided talking about being involved, unless it so happened someone connected the dots about her name, or when Griselle and Grisham recognized her.

AZ didn't know it was her either right away. But she knew him the instant she walked into Hotel Z and saw him behind the front desk.

Ophelia was not exactly kind or understanding to AZ's plight when she'd first heard of it. She'd pinned as much blame on AZ as she had on Lysandre at the time, had argued with the old King at least once when they had crossed paths. Even if there was no changing the fact he had created the Weapon and used it, she didn't understand why he didn't have it dismantled during those long centuries he'd spent searching for Floette. His negligence had allowed it to be rediscovered and even if she shouldn't have had to dismantle Flare's plans, she did so anyway because there hadn't been anyone else to do so.

So come 5 years later, and here is AZ again. Ophelia was reminded of her anger and bitterness but she managed to keep her temper in check. A few weeks into staying at the hotel and getting into routine, she revealed to AZ who she was and they spoke. And they came to a tentative understanding together.

Until the whole Ange thing came to light.

And that set Ophelia off yet again. She laid into AZ furiously for his stupid arrogance, and again brought up all the time he had wasted being a miserable sad sack rather than trying to take accountability and DO something about the dangerous technology he created. And how once again it fell on her shoulders to fix his problems. How that wasn't fair to her or to Team MZ or to anyone really.

Not that it mattered, because of course Ophelia was going to go through with taking down Ange with everyone's help.

A thick layer of green life has overtaken the remains of Geosenge since the last time Ophelia was here. Upturned houses dilapidated with moss and ivy crawling over them, grasses growing wild and almost as tall as her elbows. The worn stone pillars and walls in their strange alignments were humming ever so faintly with residual energy. A droning sound making her ears tingle and her Aura sense itch somewhere in the back of her head. Ophelia glances over the abandoned Pokémon Center, the only building that had escaped the worst of the Ultimate Weapon's deadly blooming five years ago.

She can see the rusted fence that surrounds the crater where the Weapon had collapsed, sinking back into it's earthen cradle and crushing the beehive of Team Flare's HQ beneath. The fence had some holes in its mesh but it was mostly whole, erected to prevent anyone from taking a fatal tumble into the depths.

sirena is considered very odd for merfolk, as she was born to a human mother and a mer/fish-man mixed father. thus she is considered half-human but clearly the merfolk genes are dominant.

her father is unknown. she was raised primarily by her [and fay's] mother, sakuya. because of this, she had very little exposure to other merfolk and fish-men and does not know much of their culture.

she is pescatarian, and has a fondness for sea-king fillets. she will even hunt smaller sea kings to satisfy this preference.

her primary weapon is a trident but she is competent with swords, throwing knives and guns.

while her public / given name is "sirena", she also has a secret name as is custom of her culture. what that is? well, she probably wont ever tell.

she has been hunted by pirates and slavers in the past, she has a few scars to show for this but usually hides them with her clothing and accessories.

Some misc headcanons about Lisska, my planeswalker unicorn oc.

She is proficiently ambidextrous, able to use either hand to perform tasks and even wield weapons. It was a skill she had to learn, during a time where her dominant right hand was incapacitated.

Considers herself a Jack of all Trades type, Master of None. Being a wanderer and mercenary, she's had to pick up all manner of knowledge and methods in order to survive. From crafting to navigating to cooking, Lisska knows the worth in being versatile.

Able to alter her appearance to varying degrees in order to hide in plain sight. Mostly this involves hiding her more obvious unicorn features. The except being her wings, which are cumbersome to glamour but she may exert the effort if absolutely necessary. Usually she hides them with a cloak.

Her kind did not typically specialize in individual elements, Lisska just happened to have a unique affinity for electricity and lightning. Her abilities fall in line with something akin to Electrokinesis.

She does possess the classical unicorn abilities of healing others, cleansing poisons and venoms and purifying water.

the unicorn / amalthea's allure is not merely an effect that elicits attraction or desire in others. i'm not saying that it isn't a very valid reaction to her either, she is very beautiful to an almost uncanny extent depending on the setting or au. her whole being is meant to be otherworldly to others and that can prompt a range of reactions depending upon the person.

her presence diminishes fear and uncertainty, being around her tends to be calming in some fashion. like you can trust her implicitly. some might be compelled to do anything to earn her favor, or be overcome with a compulsion to possess her for themselves. there might be others who feel such joy and awe that nothing could possibly compare afterwards.

she is a dream but she is also so painfully real that her absence leaves one aching and poisonously empty.

again, it all depends on the person. like with king haggard, whose only joy was seeing the unicorns that they drove him mad with greed to possess them all. to prince lir, who was enchanted and believed himself in love with amalthea, became a hero for her sake and later still, loved the unicorn she had become.

ophelia; misc details

the years between the conclusion of x/y into legends za, ophelia has spent in the sinnoh region. she participated in the league challenge and just dawdled exploring the region and filling the pokedex there.

cannot emphasize enough how much ophelia does not want wide spread recognition of being a heroine, champion or even that her family is well known and wealthy. she's just doing stuff because who the fuck else is gonna do it?

because of her refusal to stay in any spotlight, ophelia has released any legendary or mythical pokemon she has come across that were either captured by others or for some reason, she needed to capture first in order to calm them. she is not comfortable having any mythical part of her team. (which, if one insists on following her though, she wont stop them.)

tends to omit using her surname 'hawthorne' unless its absolutely necessary. she also doesnt have a ton of personal wealth - the family fortune is under her aunt's jurisdiction, after all.

something of an artist; she paints, draws and knows how to sew a little bit.

ophelia has a few years of gymnastics under her belt, as well as rock climbing. she's surprisingly agile and strong, which definitely has been useful while running about lumiose city.

if she does not have her greninja out, her lucario tends to accompany her out of its pokeball.
