normal person: maybe i'll flirt with him. robert sugden: i'm going to fake car trouble. normal person: so he'll stop and help? robert sugden: no. i'm going to specifically call HIM and lure him out to a deserted country lane. normal person: why? robert sugden: so we can make out in secret. normal person: does he know that's why you're asking him to come? robert sugden: absolutely not.

and somehow this WORKED????? aaron dingle actually turns up, takes one look at the situation and goes "hang on, your car's fine." at which point robert doesn't even attempt a convincing lie. he basically shrugs and goes "yeah. anyway." and almost immediately starts trying to kiss him. that's not confidence. that's the behaviour of a man whose frontal lobe has been completely overtaken by raging lust.

the funniest part is that this plan had approximately seventeen points of failure. aaron could have refused to come. he could have driven away. he could have told him to get stuffed. he could have punched him.

instead robert rolled the dice on the most ridiculous scheme imaginable and won. 2014 robert sugden saw this sharp-edged, angry little gremlin of a man and thought: yes. i will stage a mechanical emergency in order to smooch him on a rural road.
