I 100% mean to be that person but letâs remember who Christopher Columbusâ expoditions explicitly hurt: The TaĂno, and the other nations of the Caribbean.
We are all allowed to be unified in our hatred for the colonizers who hurt us on Indigenousâ Peoples Day, but this man hurt them first and foremost, and we need to have respect for the nations that persist in secret 500 years later.
Happy Indigenous People's Day

Hello/aanii!!
A strong indigenous person PihĂȘsiw is asking for help to cover disability expenses so they can live comfortably without pain everyday! They put in so much labour into the native community. They need help for the expenses of a wheelchair and a service dog! Since indian affairs and Canadian healthcare can be awful to Indigenous people especially if they have a disbillty.
Since the age of 5 I have been disabled. During my second heart surger⊠PihĂȘsiw Crane needs your support for Help PihĂȘsiw Get a Wheelchair &
Lets help PihĂȘsiw get a wheelchair and service dog!!!!!!
this is their story (they/them pronouns)
âï»żSince the age of 5 I have been disabled. During my second heart surgery I had what they call a spinal chord infarction, essentially a stroke in the spine. At first I was told I would never walk again, but fortunately regained some feeling and usage of my legs. I spent the next 9 years in and out of rehabilitation, physio therapy and multiple surgeries. As I get older I get weaker, I deal with chronic muscular and skeletal pain, nerve pain and partial paralysis. I use a cane but lately have been needing something for more me to live a more comfortable life to continue to be independent so I am fundraising money for a wheelchair. Unfortunately FNIHB will not cover wheelchair costs until I get an assessment done by a OT but due to COVID-19 that could be months. I am also in the process of getting a mobility service dog, a well trained service dog costs up to 30,000$. A mobility service dog assist in many tasks, a few to name would be stabilizing and bracing, alerting bystanders if I have fallen, bringing my wheelchair to me if I am unable and many other tasks. All proceeds will be going to a light weight active wheelchair, installation of medical equipment for me to easily and safely access my home and a service dog.  (shower aid installations, etc) so I continue living my everyday life comfortably.  I deeply appreciate the community support to helping me fulfill my financial goal.â
Please share, reblog, donate!!!!! When you help one indigenous person, you help the whole community!!!
Thank you/meegwetch!

Thank you!
Meegwetch everyone! They are almost half way there in meeting their financial goal! Their update: they paid off the wheel chair and put a down payment for the service dog!đâ€ïž

Imagine someone shoots you, very likely tried to kill you and after that trauma you expect sympathy and maybe an outpouring of support but instead your trauma becomes a meme and everyone is laughing at your pain.
And this is truly the burden of black women. The world tears us down to nothing so we build up these hard exteriors to protect ourselves (which usually manifests as what appears to be unwavering confidence) and are praised for our "strength" but really for how much abuse we can take. And the result of that is people feeling free to treat us any kind of way without remorse because we're expected to handle everything better than other women. We're rarely seen as victims, sympathetic characters, vulnerable, and deserving of affection.
Just found out what residential school my mooshum/grandpa went to. :( it was the one where they had the child size electric chair. I feel sick.

yâall saying BLM for one situation just donât sit right with me, it goes beyond police brutality!!! itâs Black women dying at a higher rate during childbirth. itâs Black people being exposed to COVID-19 at a higher rate. itâs Black people being forced into low income communities. it's Black people being denied job opportunities due to the name on their applications. it's Black people being denied into higher institutions despite having the same qualifications as their non-Black counterparts. it's Black people having their creations and ideas stolen without being given credit simply because a good percentage of society still believes in 2020 that Black people are not creative enough or smart enough or skilled enough. this isn't just about police brutality. this is deeper than that.
