You know what keeps me up at night? Thinking that Aaliyah would’ve not only been considered an r&b artist, pop artist, and hip-hop artist, but also a rock artist. She was ready to break down musical barriers, and she was robbed from that opportunity when she died (i.e. her collab with Trent Reznor that was in the works), and we were robbed from hearing more of that kind of fusion. Not only that, but the worry of Aaliyah’s legacy fading because her evil uncle is greedily keeping her last two albums from the public and not sharing them on streaming platforms (which I still have no clue as to why he’s doing that other than money), and the only album that’s streamable is the one that features a sexual predator.
