PRUDENCE’S SMILE BRINGS A warm feeling, and knowing that he is the one who put it there gives Ambrose a strong sense of pride. He uses his free hand to reach for hers, moving just slightly so he can place the stone into her palm. “Take it. One as beautiful as yourself should also have pretty things in her possession.” he says, the wide grin giving way to an expression much more tender as he looks upon her. Her words cause him to pause, though not at all in a negative manner; Ambrose is merely surprised - after all, he doesn’t think of himself as much, yet in this instance she makes him feel like something special. “I’m glad of that. There’s always more to learn, Prudence - always more perspective to be found.” A pause follows, only a moment’s hesitation for him to consider whether to speak his mind. “You’ve changed the way I l see things, too. You have so much courage…it inspires me to find my own.”

Drab is the first word that comes to his mind. Silas is rather disappointed by the place, he had been promised a witch and warlock meeting ground. Instead, he finds himself in a bar full of young, half drunk idiots. He looks at his new company, not surprised that he has been approached — men of his standard aren’t exactly common. ❝ Trust me, you won’t be seeing me here again, ❞ Silas replies simply, eyes meeting hers over his glass. ❝ It would seem that this century  never fails to disappoint. ❞ 

           the adoring gazes of his underlings never went unnoticed by the archangel, even when he didn’t grace them with a reaction. in those moments he truly understood why god created angels to worship him. “ good. i expect you to be smarter than to ever do that. ”

the deck is finally abandoned, the serious undertone of the conversation far too charged for menial card games.  isaac places the cards down atop the mahogany coffee table between them with a dull thud, the queen of hearts face up in all of its poetic irony.  he smirks at the punchline of a missing joke and sits back, self-satisfied.

     ‘ you believe in fate, right? ’     it isn’t an honest question.  it’s something he himself has mulled over as the years have gone by; thinking back to the hurtful histories shelved in his heart, and what he could’ve changed if only he’d tried harder.  the universe is good at that – tricking you into thinking you have the illusion of choice.     ‘ maybe i’m here to stop you from doing something as stupid as pushing yourself too far.’ 

arms settle crossed behind his head, legs crossed by the ankles.  he is the epitome of ease, comfortable and familiar with the thoughts tainting her usual spark.

     ‘ i mean, seriously, you’re prudence night. you don’t owe those bastards any more than you’re willing to give. ’     isaac hums thoughtfully, watching her without malice or judgement.     ‘ and if they try, well… we’ll just charge them more. may as well get something out of it to pay for the therapy. ’
