Finally a hand sewing tutorial on a hemline that isn't just the ladder stitch! the ladder stitch disappears when you tighten it, but it's not meant for hemlines because it breaks really easily! The overlock stitch is more stable, so it holds much longer, and it won't pucker or warp the fabric!

in general i think passivity as its own destructive force, passivity as an agentic choice, is interesting to me. of course, we talk about the guilt of bystanders or culpability by proxy, etc, but i think it tends to be framed as an absence of action, as Not Doing, but the passivity itself is a continually maintained act, if that makes sense. super interesting - also what it costs the person to carry on with them, what are the benefits? when do the disadvantages outweigh those? what are you giving up or willing to give up by deciding to remain passive? what conscience is being reassured here? the moral calculations feeding into this choice? etc
