Bonne nuit β¨
My love, there is nothing quite like the feeling of becoming stronger in your own body, especially when we recognize the gift it is to have the physical capacity to do so. Strength is one of those gifts that is easy to overlook until we recognize what a delicious blessing it is to to lift, breathe deeply, move, dance, and participate fully in our life force. There is nothing quite like returning to slow acts like feeling your spine stack with fire, desire, and dignity or core awaken as the center of your reality from which you move through the world. Strengthen your hip flexors, open your chest and heart, reclaim your flexibility, and restore your balance. What I know is that these acts are not merely physical practices but pathways back to yourself. They are the very arts that return you home to your female body. Ask me how I know?! So many of the indigenous feminine arts have been forgotten. Therefore, we need more poems about the art of moving with fluidity instead of force and rigidity. We need more sister-circles about the art of standing with an open heart and sensitive breasts, the art of breathing into the low belly during a difficult conversation with loved one, and the art of walking with grounded hips and a lifted spine. Over the last 10 days, I have devoted myself to mobility and pilates practices while quietly weaving my own constellation of feminine arts into every class. What I have discovered, and what I can already witness in my own body, is that whenever we give our attention to the smallest details and strengthen the most often-forgotten muscles of our core, back, hips, and even feet, we begin returning closer back to the regenerative body that we were designed to inhabit. For me, this looks like seeing class as not merely about exercise or purely mechanical in the ways taught. I soft gaze and quietly infuse each movement with the feminine arts. I listen to the sensual cadence of my own breath, allowing gentle whispers, low moans, and soft sighs to accompany the movement as the teacher offers her cues on how to do the movement as the music plays. I invite my mind-body imagination into my classes as well. As I strengthen a muscle deep within my belly or back, I imagine it glowing with an iridescent violet light ~awakening, nourishing, and remembering the color and frequency of vitality. Because there is nothing like remembering that your body is alive and wants to restore communication between the mind and body, awaken atrophied muscles, return sensuality into exercise, and feel safe expanding capacity for pleasure even when working out. Regeneration is cultivating a body that feels increasingly alive at every stage, age, size, and even ability. Someone using crutches, living with chronic pain, rebuilding after illness, or lifting weights in a gym or taking a pilates class can have a profound relationship with regeneration. As our bodies become more stronger and resilient, we naturally meet the world with more softness including less tension and anxiety and a greater capacity for real presence. We discover that our bodies are capable of carrying pleasure through even the simplest moments of everyday life. Some will even wake up aroused for the day as a way of life. There is a profound joy in feeling muscles awaken that have slept for months or years or posture soften into a noticeable effortless elegance. Or feeling your feet connect to the earth, ribs expand, hips move with more freedom, or spine lengthen toward the sky. These anatomical changes remind us that the body is always reaching toward greater vitality when we learn to listen to it and tend to the smallest details. The human body possesses an innate capacity to regenerate, restore, and continually return home to itself when we offer it devoted attention, including sound and color. This has been my experience after only 10 days of devotional practice. β India Ame'ye, Author

Part of women's work is learning to be more gentle and patient with one another in deeply compassionate, tangible ways. We heal not only through how we tend to ourselves, but through how we hold another woman who may need a little tending.

As you get older, you'll discover that mobility and athleticism become some of the greatest indicators of long-term health. They allow you to move through life with strength, confidence, and independence. But at the foundation of both is your radiant, adaptable nervous system which coordinates balance, movement, recovery, relaxation, sexual function, and resilience in healthy aging. In other words, preserve your capacity to move well. And know that your ability to move well depends not only on having strong muscles but also on a resilient, adaptable nervous system. The aim is to cultivate greater connection to your slow breath and an openness throughout your body, allowing the flow of love to nourish your cells, tissues, and organs when you inhale. Stretch, twisting, reaching, turning, rotating, twirling, hanging from your arms on a bar, shaking, and the like. -India Ame'ye
