Y’all can say Rainbow Direction isn’t about shipping and is about the fans but I have yet to see a sign that specifically addresses fans nor have I seen an action made solely focused at the fans.

I’ve seen signs held in the direction of the boys. I’ve seen flags waved directly at Louis every time he/his team scores. I’ve seen items sold (which like… lol if you’re meant to support people, profiting off of them is really shitty) with the letters “H” + “L” literally incorporated into them as a hidden joke.

I have never seen anything just for the fans. I have never seen the fears and concerns of the fans addressed, ever. If you were made just for queer people, you’d spend more timing calling out problematic larries (and ziams and other ships, but mostly larries and ziams) and destroying actual harmful behavior within the fandom.

Safety isn’t just about colors in the wind or whatever the fuck, it’s about actually getting rid of the “unsafe” things. When you choose to foster those unsafe tactics, you aren’t creating safe place, you’re building a straw house.

I’m not participating in the systematic outing of celebrities. I am not invading anyone’s privacy. I am not engaging in heteronormative behavior in declaring there is a way to behave that makes you not-straight, declaring there is a way to behave that inherently makes you behave. I am not holding signs towards celebrities, aka people I do not know, telling them it’s okay that they’re gay, even though they’ve said they are not gay (or bi, or pan, or ace, or any of the many romantic orientations).

I am not systematically stomping on the rights of others for my own limited sense of safety. I am not ignoring the concerns of closeted youth to feel better about shitty, problematic group of boys. I am not looking people in the eye and saying “your pain means nothing.”

I am merely saying–your supposedly progressive movement is flawed and those flaws are hurting people. Instead of addressing those flaws, fixing those flaws, I have been told that my concerns and fears aren’t legitimate and that The Cause is Perfect.

I am not the same of Rainbow Direction. I’m actually concerned with the pain of others.
