I’m a bloody confused Australian trying to navigate this befuddling Brexit landscape. Can someone please let me know if this rudimentary breakdown is up to scratch?

1. British Government votes to let ‘the people’ decide to leave the EU

2. Marginal majority of ‘the people’ vote to leave the EU

3. British Government then attempts to negotiate an exit strategy with the EU (neither party actually wants UK to exit but it’s what ‘the people’ want

4. British Governement vote overwhelmingly against the exit strategy (despite it being what ‘the people’ want)

5. Unless a new UK law is passed everything since 23 June 2016 has been hot air becusae by law (Article 50) the UK must exit the EU on 29 March 2019
