My adventure to wander to where I've been lucky get invited to led me to the beautifully eclectic city of Seattle – a place where innovation meets range tradition, where nature entwines with urban life, and where the heartbeat of everyday existence resonates in the lives of its people. My goal here was to get a real sense of life in the city, to live alongside the locals, to breathe the same air, and to become a silent observer of their lives, all while surrounding myself with the natural beauty of the Pacific North West.

Seattle is a city that echoes the sentiment that no two lives are the same. People from all walks of life call this place home, each weaving a story that's uniquely their own. This I found to be medicine, as comparison has been the monster inside my closet for the last few months. Diversity is what makes our world so beautifully complex. Comparison is deeply human, it serves purpose, yet in todays connected world it becomes a trap keeping us from the freedom needed to fully step into the life we've been given, and do the best we can - aware of our blessings.

Seattle's sense of community might be my biggest takeaway and what will keep coming back. I could see the “American Dream” alive, although maybe not “well” enough. I enjoyed observing and talking-to neighbors who tend with love and dignity to their small pieces of land- flower gardens, DIY patios and tiny farms where my daily eye candy while walking my friend Mr. Darcy. I got to talk to Mary, a sweet neighbor living in the oldest house in the neighborhood. Mary seemed to be the heartbeat of the community, a trusted neighbor who is involved in local politics and believes in the strength of her neighborhood to be resilient in this changing times.

Time spent alone during this journey has been a gift I thank myself for – a chance to reflect, to process, and to nurture a fresh perspective. Stepping away from the familiar allowed for thoughts to roam freely, for ideas to bloom, and for getting to reconnect with God .
