In 1809, the Russian artist Orest Adamovich Kiprensky creates one of the best children portraits in the history of Russian art - portrait of Alexander Alexandrovich Chelishchev. Boy (12 y.o) looks at the world with wide open eyes of a child, which is still the new all impression of being. Voluntarily he become a soldier in war (1812) when he was only 14 years old. After some years he become a member of the Northern Society, which later organizes the Decembrist uprising(it was the failed coup in Russia). Chelishchev didn’t participate in the Decembrist uprising. He was the father of twins Aleksey and Vladimir and two daughters Maria and Catherinе.

Among Fedor Rokotov’s best-known portraits is Portrait of Alexandra Struyskaya, sometimes called the Russian Mona Liza and admittedly the most celebrated piece of the 18th century Russian painting

In Italy famous Russian painter Orest Kiprensky met a local girl Anne Maria Falcucci (Mariucci), to whom he bacame attached. This Romanisticism portrait of Mariucci tittled Girl wearing the poppy wreath is made by Kiprensky in 1819. In 1836 he eventually married her.

Orest Kiprensky painted this portrait based on the novel by famouse Russian writer Karamzin and called it “Poor Liza”. The plot of novel is about love of a young girl named Liza. She gives herself to Erast completely. He however loses interest in her, and leaves her to join war service.

🌊🌳🚞 Heading back from a little impromptu holiday to the West. I feel like I’m making good progress on my dissertation and I found out, whilst I was away, that I got into Lady Margaret Hall at Oxford. 🚞🌳🌊

Finally got my ass out of the house to get some work done.

Morning Latin and evening coffee. Have had so much fun this week. Enjoying my free time while I still have some. Next few weeks that are coming up are going to be rough. Hope I pass all the tests and exams 😬.
