[ day 1/100 of productivity ] - The second half of 2017 has just been super unproductive, procrastination, sloppy and lousily done assignments. Trying to find that motivation again, and hopefully catch up to all my deadlines with this challenge!
Here’s a #studyblr picture from my Instagram!
If you’d like to know more about me be then be sure to follow me @its_laura_lou.
Playing around with all the colours to keep me motivated! 🌈
I have officially graduated with a degree in economics!!!!! Hardest 3 years of my life but also the 3 years in which I have grown up the most. Biggest relief ever to know I can progress onto my grad job. I will no longer be posting anymore original study content since obviously I'm not studying anymore (can't tell you how good these feels!!), but I just want to say thank you for the ongoing support I've had in this community 💛I'll be on here to support others and also reblog cool posts, I'm not going anywhere. Have a wonderful summer guys ☺️🌴

May we all pass our exams!
21.06.17 Feeling Green 🌱
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer I know my mind will change again but that's alright ❤️❤️
No problem at all. It is definitely ok, just cross one bridge at a time and take every opportunity you can to find where your aspirations lie. Take care 🌸
Deep down I know that maths & science a levels are what everyone's looking for and it will mean I can chose almost anything later but I'm not going to get the entry requirement grade to do the a level ( this is not me being pessimistic, I know my current ability and how my exams went) Honestly I can't see my self sitting through 2 years of subjects that are hard and i don't care about for the sake of it; I can only take 3 levels which I have to carry on.
Ok so it sounds like you've made your mind up that you're not into taking STEM subjects at college, which is fine. To be honest with you in your last ask you seemed on the fence about it when asking for advice. But if you've got a gut feel I know what it's like to go against it and I wouldn't recommend it. So go with that. :)With regards to your second ask about what to do with economics/lit it's really about where you want it to take you uni wise. You can't do an economics degree without maths A level so I don't really know where else an economics A level would take you (some unis might not need Maths, just going with what I know from my uni). I think right now you should just choose your A levels and leave it at that. You will find what you want to do later on. Hell, before college I wanted to be a graphic designer, leading me to choose Art A levels and maths/french on the side. Then I decided I wanted to be a zoologist and spent another couple of years completing biology/chemistry A levels. Then during uni I switched from molecular biology to economics. This is why I'm keen for people to take STEMs. Because if it wasn't for math I wouldn't have been able to go on to find my path. But that's just me. What I'm trying to say is that A levels are still very early on in your life and you can cross the 'what am I going to do for a job' bridge a little later, when you've learned a bit more from college and visited a few universities (if higher education is the way you want to go). Hope don't mind me combining both your questions. Good luck :)
the side that is shown on studyblr : sitting at a desk on a nice windy day, writing away in a grid notebook with mildliner highlighters laid out in front of you, listening to classical music
the side that isn’t shown on studyblr : staying up til 4am to write an essay, crying yourself to sleep due to stress, doing a chinese paper while suppressing an anxiety attack
yes it’s nice to study, but sometimes it sucks and that shouldn’t be overlooked in this community. it’s time to show both sides to let people know that they aren’t alone in their mental illnesses and exhaustion.
Genuinely the most important thing to take from the studyblr community. Studying is hard work, and no mildliner nor succulent plant will change that.

What advice can you give a 16 year old struggling to pick a levels and a career. I'm interested and i lose interest in everything so quickly which means I'm mediocre in everything I'm also a lazy fucj I'm trying :) Am I not going to get a well paying job if i don't go into STEM bc other than lawyer i can't see anything great out of doing English/history a level which I'm slightly leaning into
Ok so there's two ways of looking at this. On one hand, a lot of people would be inclined to advise to study whatever the hell you want to study. You're young and free to do what you want and if English and History make you happy then of course studying them at A level seems the natural way to go. The fact that you're not tied down to any specific career aspirations (NOT a bad thing!!) might also sway you to do what you want and not worry so much about your subject choice. On the other hand, you could use that exact same point to argue that it would be better to keep your options open at A level by taking some STEM subjects. Personally (this may be an unpopular opinion), I think unless you're certain you want to do a Bachelor of Arts at degree level such as English Lit, it would be a good idea to do at least one STEM at both AS and A2 level. From what I know, law is a bit of a different beast because you need to get training contracts/significant work exp to get into that industry, so I would avoid associating History and English with becoming a lawyer - it may happen if you work at it, of course. Just mentioning. I would advise you to keep your options open while having an A level to look forward to in case things get tough with others. Maths always crops up when looking for jobs/degrees. Doing A Level in Maths gave me a great understanding of everything, and I would be clueless without it. Definitely my most valued A level. If anything, I would advise you to start with 4 AS levels in your first year, so perhaps English, History, Maths and a science (I would advise physics/chemistry because these seem more highly demanded across degrees in general). Then, as second years comes where you may choose to drop an AS, I would definitely say dropping history might help since, while being interesting, the subject doesn't give you any extra skills that English might. That way, you've enjoyed the two AS levels that you initially leaned towards, whilst developing another part of your brain with some maths and science. As for your worries on not being good enough at A level, you absolutely need to change this attitude! You are coming from exactly the same background as most students, you have equal capabilities. Fine, you might compare yourself to some perfect humans who do 5 A Levels, multiple sports, speak 3 different languages as well as having the same if not better social life than you. But these are the extreme cases. You are you, and you can achieve above average no matter how mediocre you feel. The right combination of support, motivation and time will get you where you need to be. The hardest part for me was the motivation. But tumblr definitely helped with this and I hope it helps you too. I hope this might have clarified things a little bit, but of course this is your choice! I'm just saying what I feel has been most important to me over the years, as I have struggled with career/degree choices. Oh, and don't worry about well paying jobs. Just worry about the amount of job choice you may have.I'm always here to talk if you need to talk, anon or not! :)

I give you so much credit for studying economics. I couldn't get through micro without falling asleep, I was so bored (and sleep deprived, but that's besides the point).
Ahh thank you! It's exactly the same with me, I don't understand how there are professors who dedicate their lives to micro. But everyone has their preferences.(pun absolutely intended)
27.05.2017 // 15:46 Revision for my final exam ever* - macroeconomic analysis. This whole exam period has been the most exhausting, stressful and emotional time of my life and I never, ever, want to repeat it again. University ending couldn't come quickly enough. Time to start planning my summer travels in my revision breaks ✈️
7 things I've learned from studying economics
• Forget what you've been told in the past about classical/neoclassical theory. Listen to your current lecturer. Repeat when you have a new lecturer • DON'T underestimate the difficulty of microeconomics • Coloured pens in exams will save you • Supply = Demand. This will be more or less your entire degree • Econometrics is the devil's spawn • Textbooks will help more than the lectures that you pay £9,000 a year for • Life is complicated

5/100 days of productivity :: woooheeee, have I been absent! im so sorry for the lack of original posts on here, so to make up for it I decided to post these module summary posters I made for my sciences on my graphics tablet; modules B4, C5 & P4! writing posters is a really effective way to revise for me, so i plan to make more of these and hopefully upload them too. ♡
