Steve/Bucky D/s Art Exchange

Unfortunately, I (thefilthiestpiglet) personally won’t be organizing another exchange anytime soon.  This exchange seriously threw me off my creative mojo for 3 weeks (1 week in doing the matches, 2 weeks in following up with everyone and getting everything set up).  I didn’t realize it at the time, but now that it’s over I’m SO RELIEVED and also drawing left and right and having comic ideas again.  And much as I liked meeting folks by being the organizer, I *far* prefer meeting folks through my art. 

(And this is with an exchange where everyone was so responsive and on top of things, and the people dropping out told me ASAP and the pinch-hitters were fucking amazing.  <333  But the nature of exchanges means that there’s a lot of headache at the beginning and a LOT of anxiety and fussiness at the end, and it spills out into whinging at friends and family.)

That said:

(a) I’m still serious about the possibility of turning this into some sort of ad hoc request based art kinkmeme type thing -- although that post’s gonna need another 20 notes before we hit “critical mass”

(b) It doesn’t preclude other people organizing future exchanges.

Okay, I’ve napped and showered and feel more like a human now, and I think I’ve figured out a way to make this sort of “art kinkmeme” thing work on tumblr:

Asks = Requests

Basically after you send in an ask, I‘ll publish it and tag it as an unfilled request (and maybe also for general themes, etc), and also give it a number.

Then interested people can browse through the request tags and draw as they’re inclined.  We can even have an informal “dibs” process in the notes of an ask, but then again, I love seeing the different art a single inspirational request can generate.

Submissions = Fills

So after drawing the fill, you can submit it (or @mention us), and we can post it, and tag/link it to the original request.

If we’re feeling ambitious we can even go back to the original request and edit the post to indicate that it is filled and to link to the art post.

Caveats

I think it’s really important to remind everyone up front that artists are not generators of free artwork.  Requests should purely be there as sources of inspiration, and not obligatory fills.  Also, I’d like it very much if there’s a general “take a penny, leave a penny” type behavior here – if you find yourself submitting a lot of requests, you should try filling a few.  And vice versa!  Coming up with requests for other people to draw actually gave me a lot of secondary porn ideas! 

Anyways, if this sounds interesting to folks, I’m happy to keep being pornmom for a bit – just to get this system up and running.  And if it feel like it’s working out, and after I’ve worked out the kinks (heh heh) in the system, I’ll probably send out a request for other mods.

OMG yes if @feanorinleatherpants or anyone else wants to do bonus porn that’d be AMAZING.  So here’s currently how bonus porn works -- if you draw some porn byproduct or just some Stucky D/s art, you basically @mention us at stuckydsartexchange or submit via http://stuckydsartexchange.tumblr.com/submit and we’ll reblog/post it.

Bucky feels nice and safe and quiet.  They can't see, but they know that Steve is suited up and in control, whereas Bucky's wearing nothing but binding ropes (and some comfy panties and 'hose).  Steve loves seeing them so relaxed, and is quite enjoying the view himself.

Here you go: my sketchy guide to art exchange!  (I know this assumes that people know what a Secret Santa is, and is horribly Euro/Americentric, but ... cultural shortcuts!!??)

Basically, everyone should have their assignments now, so we’re in the Making Presents stage.

What happens next:

On June 25th, I’ll send out a check-in email.  If there’s any panicked fall-out from that, I send a list of un-filled requests to the pinch-hitters, who will “dibs” the ones they are up to doing, and do that in a week.

By July 1st: either email or use the submission form to submit your artwork to me.  I will then queue up all of it to post on July 4th, and also follow up with anyone who *didn’t* submit (and if necessary, beg the pinch-hitters to draw more stuff).

Of course, if you get done ahead of time, you can send me the artwork whenever -- I’ll just get it queued up, and we all just wait for July 4th.
