It's the way it's presented in the most uncomfortable scene with Ralsei and Lancer in chapter 1 where Lancer seems actively upset about what Ralsei is saying and Susie is side-eying him the whole time and people can go hmm sounds completely correct and will not be dismantled at all over the course of the story.
