It's a Bloody Business // Caleb & Roman
"Dr, Scanlon, exam room three, you have a severe laceration."
"Thanks. heading there now."Â
Roman used his knuckles to tap the back of a heavy wooden door before stepping in. He flicked his blue eyes from the nurse to the man sitting on the edge of the exam bed. He gave a polite smile to the gentleman and flicked over a few sheets until he found the name.Â
"Mister Hilkins? If you donât mind showing me the cut⌠Could you tell me about how long ago you injured yourself and the circumstances surrounding the injury?" He questioned Caleb as he moved around the room setting up a tray with thread and a needle for stitches. "Do you mind if I suture the wound?"Â
Most of the trip to the hospital had been a blur of Caleb staring at his own blood-soaked palm and thinking about how he didn't like the smell. He was so fucking stupid - opening a package too carelessly, too quickly, and he'd ended up slicing open his hand. His secretary, who came in to tell him about a meeting, took one look at him and the colour drained from her face. Caleb quickly found himself being crammed into the back of a taxi, and driven to the nearest hospital.Â
It had been a relatively fast procedure, and Caleb was soon sitting in a painfully white room that reeked of cleaning products and linoleum. The relief and fear he felt when the doctor came in was overwhelming.
He stuck his hand out, and couldn't help but laugh.Â
"Is that standard procedure? Asking a patient who's clearly in need of medical attention whether they mind if you give it to them?" Â He wasn't a fan of needles, but he didn't really have much choice. "Anyway, I was trying to open this goddamned box, and I don't know, got a little excited, did this".Â
