Tea is, in fact, a marvelous drink. To those who spurn it on the grounds of insomnia, I say that it’s better to be deprived of sleep than of tea.
Natsume Sōseki - The Three-Cornered World (translated by Alan Turney)
I cannot stress this enough- Build a routine. Build Habits. Wake up every day and get used to being productive, one day at a time. Do this for long enough and eventually you’ll be at your goal without even realising it.
[01.11.17] one word to describe today? exhausting. from my 8:30am lecture till now, I’m ready to crash! (ᴗ˳ᴗ)💤

12.1.2018 Only a couple of days left!! I need to stop procrastinating.
August 30, 2017 // Classes officially start in a week, but my online philosophy course is currently available. AKA school is now in session. The course is about ethics for science and engineering, which is bound to be interesting considering that both subjects are often disregarded as having moral roots. I’ll also be taking courses in thermal engineering, CAD, physics II, and modern poetry. In addition, I’m helping to plan my school’s second hackathon. I’m completely unashamed to say that I am beyond excited for it all.
Here’s to coffee-fueled study sessions, meticulous note-taking, and a new semester of college.
August 24, 2017 // After a week long hiatus from tumblr, I come again to say happy Thursday! This week I was traveling (to Ohio...TWICE) and trying to catch up on some socializing with friends. After all, it is summer or something. In addition to the socializing, I worked on JavaScript projects, some study of solar energy, doing yoga, and reading. My boyfriend loaned me Misery a while ago...time to try finishing it without crying.
August 17, 2017 // I hope everyone is enjoying their Thursday! It’s a gloomy and (sort of) cool day here in Michigan, so the bugs are at bay, making it possible for me to work on my balcony. My completion of JavaScript on Codecademy has brought me to the conclusion that I need to upgrade my account so I can access projects. That being said, I think I am going to make use of that before learning C. Also, I realized that classes start in less than a month??? I want to go to the beach at least once before it’s back to the grind.

August 15, 2017 // After a weekend of traveling around the state, I am determined to finish learning JavaScript today and to start learning C programming. A bit of a jump, but I am feeling pretty confident in my ability to learn how to code on my own. Granted, I am using resources like Codecademy to aid me, so it’s really not too difficult. If anyone has any useful tips, feel free to share! I am a beginner so all advice is welcome.
August 12, 2017 // Ah, summer is here. Finally done with classes! I’m so excited to catch up on reading. I still haven’t finished Cosmos…which I got for Christmas. I’m also learning JavaScript! On the right is an image from my trip to Estes Park back in May. 15/10 would highly recommend.
What do you guys do to occupy your time when you’re not in class? Give me the ideas!!
August 9, 2017 // today marks the penultimate day of my journey through math this summer, ending with my final in differential equations. admittedly, I’m tired and extremely excited for the summer semester to finally subside. all I want now is to hide in the Rocky Mountains…too bad I’m a thousand miles away.
August 6, 2017 // Starting the day with some throwback images from this spring. Enjoy my very imperfect attempt at making my notes attractive along with a few tips to beat procrastination.
Don’t think, just do. Beginning is always the hardest part. But why does it have to be? Don’t think about what it will be like to do the work, just start doing it. If you attach too many negative thoughts/feelings to the task at hand, you’re going to both delay completing it and hate every second of doing it. Believe me, I understand what it’s like to absolutely dread completing a project or doing homework, but you’ll thank yourself later for not overthinking those first steps that allow you to get it done.
Eliminate distractions. Put away your phone. Turn off the TV. Don’t listen to music with lyrics. All of these things pull you away from concentrating, making it more likely for you to get distracted from completing your task. Allow yourself the time to focus. Find joy in engaging with your work. This in particular will help with long-run procrastination beating by redefining the way your mind views work.
Have food and water at hand. Be prepared with your favorite healthy foods and your choice of beverage so that you don’t have to get up in the middle of a good productivity sesh, thus breaking your concentration and potentially encouraging you to put off your task. It’s a small thing, but it really does help!
I hope these help! Not everyone is the same, but if you’re in a procrastination pickle, incorporating these strategies may help.
