“What a… suiting costume.” It wasn’t rare for him to not show up at events like these. Something always seemed to come out of them, whether anyone wanted to or not. He always wanted to be here for it. Though when he laid eyes on the witch, he couldn’t help but approach her once more.
They had sworn to never see one another again. To never do anything with each other. Yet, he seemed to always be drawn to the chaos that would always come out of their interactions. “Although I must ask…” Draven took a long sip of his drink, eyes looking her up and down. “What drew the inspiration?”
@strcinedinnocence
Prudence didn’t like the hold that he had over her, considering that he was a reminder of her decisions. Going home with him that night had been a mistake, at least, that was what she told herself. If it really was a mistake, than why did the prince still take residence in her head? “I wish I could say the same.. but I thought Li Shang was noble.” The witch rolled her eyes with a cocky smirk. She wasn’t going to let him know anything. Just as it had been before, her armor was up.
His question certainly had caught her attention, what had given her the inspiration to dress like Maleficent for the gala? “She’s a strong, powerful witch. What more could you ask for?” The woman took a sip of her champagne before she continued to speak, looking him up and down. “Did the lovely wife make an appearance tonight?”
@ofheavenlybodies
It felt odd - being away from Lily and leaving her with a sitter. She could hear her roommate’s voice in her head: you need a night of fun, love. Enjoy it. While she knew that her friend was right, there was part of her that wished she was watching movies from the comfort of her couch. At least she was joined by Tessa. The young woman had been one of the first people that she spent time with when she arrived in Halloweentown, having enrolled Lily in swimming lessons. It had warmed the blonde’s heart and the other’s kindness had continued to do so as she continued to get to know her.
Friendship was hard for her to come by in this place. Mostly because she hadn’t really taken the time to explore quite yet, perhaps that was what this night was for. She had originally thought she’d go stag, considering that she originally hadn’t wanted to go at all. But now, as she entered the party with Tessa at her side, the woman couldn’t help but marvel as her eyes traveled over the venue. “My goodness-” The human couldn’t hide the laugh that seemed to fall from her lips as she glanced around the room. It was certainly something to behold.
“Tessa- look at this place! Isn’t it just..” Magical, she was going to say. That was, until she remembered what world she was in. One filled with magic. “What do we even do first.. this is just incredible!” Camille was beginning to realize how odd she probably sounded, getting so excited over a party. Maybe she didn’t give herself enough chances to have fun after all. “Man, I’m sorry. I just made myself look more like a recluse than I actually am.”
@mvnymvvns
Coming to this event alone seemed rather fitting for her. Not that she didn’t have people she enjoyed spending time around, but she found herself spending most of her time in solace with her books. Even if she had been here for a short time, maybe she simply attend and then leave. After all, maybe she could fraternize with her colleagues for an our and head out. That was, until she noticed someone in the corner of the room dressed as... Gomez Addams? It had been a long time since she had seen the film, but she remembered enough to make the assumption. And where there was a Gomez, there was usually a Morticia not that far behind. It didn’t seem like a costume that was done alone.
After they finally broke the boarder between being silent customer and shop owner, she had been surprised that her interest hadn’t seemed to wain. The last thing she wanted to do was make him feel like he was being put under a microscope, considering so many others had made her feel the same way. She had met very few individuals in her life besides her own mother who underwent the same experience. Even now, she found herself searching for those who understood.
Tracing her finger along the rim of her glass of champagne, she removed herself from the wall she had been leaning against for at least the past twenty minutes and made her way over in his direction. “I planned on making a reference to The Aadams Family.. but then I realized it was from the musical.” Antonia sighed, adjusting the feather boa draped over her arms. Perhaps dressing as Cruella was giving her a certain amount of confidence that she hadn’t had before. “This entire ordeal is still far from a normal night, isn’t it? Mayor Piper-Cromwell didn’t spare a single expense.”
@ofheavenlybodies
So far Ariel was enjoying herself, enjoying spending her time in Emery and Evelyn’s company. However, there came a point when she needed to go grab herself something to drink. It had been then when she had noticed the other angel wandering through the sea of party guests, each seeming to be in their own little world amidst the collective Victorian Gothic universe that the mayor and the rest of her team had created. Diana had always been a comforting presence, not just because she was another angel on earth. Ever since she began her work with the safe house, the blonde had found herself wanting to be near her. She had never really thought that she’d ever want to feel this way about someone else... she wanted to be her friend.
She had spent most of her life alone, watching everyone else go by. Never had she found herself drawn to other individuals besides Oliver and Emery, but Diana was different. The other made Ariel feel understood and it was comforting to know that someone else had a connection to Heaven.
“Diana!” Ariel called out, waving her hand. Even though she had been amongst the mortals for as long as she had, sometimes she still felt awkward interacting with others. “Are you as surprised by all this as I am?” She asked with a grin once the other was facing her. “Certainly a far cry from heaven, but still quite beautiful.”

@osbournelouis
There was certainly something about the alternate universe that the mayor had created, removing Camille from here life in Halloweentown even if it was only going to be for one night. Dare she say, the entire ordeal was simply magical. It also stirred up a certain confidence in her. The blonde didn’t know what it was about the individual in the corner of the room - but something was tugging at her to talk to him. No matter how it turned out, no matter if he never spoke to her again. He was interesting to her. Maybe it was his costume; The Nightmare Before Christmas was a fan favorite of hers. But, part of her wondered if it went past simply appreciating a simple reference.
It seemed that this was a reoccuring theme for her and the residents of this town, being intrigued by them. She had been in town for six months and even still, the fact that some of the creatures in the books that she read as a child were real was a huge thing to wrap her head around. Hell, six months ago she hadn’t even known that her own daughter was a witch. Damon had believed she wasn’t ready to know.
Hell, maybe she still wasn’t.
“Oh, there’s an empty place in my bones, calling out for something unknown...” She mused, realizing how goddamn awkward she sounded trying to make her reference to the film. Camille wouldn’t be surprised if he walked away right now. “I’m sorry, please don’t hate me.. here’s what I meant to say. I like your costume.”
@matthewclarkson
Camille hadn’t expected to confide in her neighbor as much as she had, but Matthew had been amazing when it came to her adjustment over the past six months. To know that there were other humans in Halloweentown had lifted a weight off of her shoulders that she didn’t know she was carrying. Feeling like an other in this town was beginning to get exhausting and it was clear that some were a bit hesitant about letting her in. After all, she had arrived pretty much unannounced with Lily. Because of Matthew and her roommate, she had been able to get her feet underneath her. For that, the woman would be forever grateful.
It didn’t take long for Camille to notice Matthew when she had arrived at the gala, decked out in his costume. She had decided to come as Rapunzel, an idea taken from her four year old who had responded rather enthusiastically to the whole thing. They had been watching Tangled when the little girl had reached up and pointed to tell her that you look like her mom. Camille’s heart swelled at the thought of the conversation, but she soon found herself focusing on getting her friend’s attention. “Hey neighbor!” She called out, certainly feeling the character take over as she made her way rather gracefully along the party that was slowly beginning to pick up.
“Isn’t this incredible?” Her gaze wandered around the room for a moment before focusing back on him. “And look at you.. you’re..” Her smile was a bit awkward as she tried to imagine what character he was. If he had come with a date, maybe she would have been able to put the pieces together, but she couldn’t seem to find anyone nearby.
@emerywoods
When Emery had asked her to accompany him to the gala, of course she had said yes. The blonde had originally planned on going stag or whatever the kids called it until he had asked, clearly not really a fan of these kinds of things. If she had gone with someone who’s company she enjoyed like Emery or Diana, maybe it would be a little more fun. Tate too, but she knew part of her would worry a little too much about her. She probably still would and knew that it would probably occur in the night to come, but regardless. The angel had been here for fifteen years and if there was anything that Ariel had learned from her time on earth -- there came a time when things began to get a bit repetitive. Near mortality was fun, but after a while when you see the same things, you look for something new to add some excitement.
Not that he’d ever believe it, but Emery had brought a lot of excitement and goodness to her life.
Evelyn had separated from their little trio and the two were alone for the moment in their matching costumes, staring out at the crowd. This Princesss Leia character was one that had taken much convincing to get her to dress as, but she was happy she had. It seemed to make Emery happy. Ariel smirked, turning to face Emery with a smile on her face. It had taken a certain amount of convincing to get Ariel to match him, but in her heart of hearts, she was happy she had done so. “How do I look? Heroic? Princess-like?”
@nikolasvazquez
Nikolas Vasquez. The name still echoed in her mind as it came up in one of her last conversations with Damon before the accident. Before she lost him forever. The two had been childhood friends -- Damon being a child of a Nyx witch and while Nikolas was human, according to Damon it had changed nothing. Best friends since childhood, who drifted apart when he made his decision to attend University in the mortal world. Where he had met Camille. While she hadn’t met this individual in person, the pictures she found spoke a thousand words. She knew his face and the care in Damon’s eyes when he looked at his friend was very there and very real. Did he know that Damon had a child? Camille had so many questions that she didn’t know where she should even begin. The last thing she wanted was to overwhelm him with her sudden arrival in his life.
Camille had no idea how long it had been since the two had last spoken, but as she looked across the floor of the gala at the familiar face it was as if she felt something compelling her to talk to him. She wouldn’t have been surprised in this town regardless. The blonde made her way across the floor in her Rapunzel dress, hands clasped together to calm her mind as she thought about what she was going to say. Hi, your best friend married me and kept most of his mortal life completely secret. Hi, your best friend from childhood had a daughter.
“Hello.. you’re Nikolas Vasquez, right?” The blonde eventually spoke, as if her words came before her brain could even form them. “I apologize.. I’m Damon’s wife- I mean.. I was Damon’s wife. Damon Baker.” Nice one, Camille. Certainly not beating around the bush. “Sorry again.. I can’t even imagine how crazy I sound. He just.. he told me he missed you. I… I didn’t think I’d ever be here. Where he grew up, let alone meet you… he always spoke so highly of you.” It was one of the last conversations that she had with her husband before the accident.. his best friend from childhood. Before she knew that Halloweentown existed, before she lost the love of her life and before her entire life was turned completely upside down.

vampyrekillian:
It wasn’t hard for Killian to realize Camille didn’t exactly fit in with everyone else in Halloweentown - humans smelled different than the supernatural creatures did, after all. He couldn’t help but grin at her, exposing his fangs. “The cinema? That’s funny, I was just thinking I needed to start a petition to keep it open later. How fortuitous.” He quickly put his fangs away, however, not wanting to make her feel threatened - there were a lot of rules he needed to follow living in the town, and feeding on involuntary meals was one of them. “Well, I’m the scariest thing I’ve seen out here tonight, don’t worry.”
The male thought she didn’t fit in? There was no one more aware of her own otherness than Camille herself. It was overwhelming, knowing that she was practically an imposter in the place that was now supposed to be her own home. “Oh?” She chuckled, looking down at her shoes with a strangled sigh before looking back up again. “I’ve thought about that.. midnight movies and stuff. With my schedule, that would certainly be hard.” While she knew he wasn’t trying to make her feel threatened, knowing that she was vulnerable was something that she couldn’t erase. “Glad to hear it. As you can tell.. this isn’t my usual route.”
ohghxst:
haneul considered her for a moment. he instantly recognized her as someone who frequented the cemetery. not that she was probably was aware he knew of her habits. he kept out of sight most, if not all, of the time. poor hana was left to deal with patrons should any need assistance. And while she had said she was fine, something about her didn’t seem fine. maybe it was the brief expression that flashed over her features, one he couldn’t quite put a name too or — no, it wasn’t any of his business.
“ no, “ i’m not used to being a solid. “ it was my fault. ” he looked at the lightly crushed flowers. they were lovely, he supposed. “ there’s no need, she won’t mind. “ in truth, she’d probably scold him for wasting money on her. “ are you visiting the cemetery today? ” the again was implied, while the question came out bluntly, and perhaps rude. not at all his intention.
The witch had always thought she was alone. Those who truly knew her viewed her as strong, one who had defeated everything that life had thrown at her and still stood in front of Halloweentown with her mask on, ready to take on even more. Those who didn’t know her might have seen her as spiteful, with a tongue that could cut glass without even a moment’s hesitation. Taking people down a couple pegs was her defense mechanism, simply second nature. To know that there was even a possibility that someone that someone might have managed to break through the facade without her knowing.. it would shake her. Most certainly.
“Are you certain? I..” The woman paused, shaking her head with a sigh. The woman certainly wasn’t against making the purchase. They were probably a gift for someone, the recipient should have the best.
So he had seen her. The question certainly caused her to take pause, her nails digging into her hand like fist. Not to cause malice, but just to quell her surprise. “I am, yes.. I suppose you’ve seen me there then. Are you doing the same?” She was trying to be cordial about the whole thing, but next to no one knew about her brothers. Prudence didn’t tell just anyone about her deepest secret, her deepest regret.
beautiiifulcreatures:
There was something about Carpe Noctem that appealed to the demon, even they didn’t fully understand what it was. But today was proving to be…dreadfully dull for them. Leaning against the bar, fingers drummed against the countertop as they simply…people watched, blue eyes scanning the crowd with minor disinterest.
It wasn’t until they were being spoken to that they showed any sign of interest, spinning the empty glass against the countertop as they debated getting another drink.
“Sure. Vodka on ice, please.” They slid the glass over to the other, watching them with mild interest. Val had seen them a handful of times before, always working, it seemed. “You certainly seem to be here a lot. Ever have a night off?”
Was Sylvie surprised to see the face across from them? No. The wolf had found themselves drawn to the regular consumer, certainly interested in the way that they moved and looked around the room as if they were too good for this place or just waiting to dip their toe in. While some might have been annoyed by that, it made them want to know more.
They were surprised by the fact that the other had even noticed them, clearly acknowledging the power in their stance as they awaited Sylvie’s response. They had originally thought the individual didn’t notice them.. perhaps they had. What a pleasant surprise.
Sylvie nodded. “One vodka on ice, comin’ up.” Taking the glass and beginning to work, they were a bit surprised when they were spoken to once again. “Ever look at the place? Never really a dull moment ‘round here.” They smirked, looking back down to the drink before sliding over once it was completed. “Keeps me on my toes.”
emerywoods:
“I get that–about the quiet,” the witch said with sympathy on his face. With a raised eyebrow, it took Emery a moment to realize that Ariel was talking about him being good company. He was oblivious like that sometimes. He started smiling, then. “We should go. You and me. It might be fun, right?” he said. “I’m more excited about the food, but I suppose I can be dragged to do pumpkin carving and the whole, uh, apple bobbing thing.”
“Yes.. some things never change.” Ariel sighed with a gentle laugh. As long as the woman had been on earth, she had certainly found herself relishing in the solace of quiet. As he suggested attending the festival together, the blonde’s smile grew even bigger. The angel would never pass up a chance to spend time with her favorite person. “I was going to ask you the same thing.. I heard they even have a Hard Cider tasting there too. Such a strange concept.” Even after all these years, she still found herself being mystified by the strangest things about mortal society. “This is going to sound strange… I’ve never carved a pumpkin before.”
ofheavenlybodies:
“You know what my mother is like, she swept her off to the bathroom to clean her up as soon as she caught sight of the situation” Diana offers with a small laugh and roll of her eyes “and people think I’m the fusser in this family.” It was better this way, Diana had always been better at the organisational elements of their enterprise, her mother was definitely the heart and had the best bedside manner. But their different approaches was what made it all work. “I called you and started getting a room ready for her while my mother had it handled,” Diana smiled sadly “hopefully all this will help her feel comfortable with us.” The angel picks up the extra towels and motions for Ariel to follow “She’s just up here.”
Ariel couldn’t help but smirk at the thought. Diana’s mother had always been kind to her, but she was certainly a lot on occasion. “You want to protect those that are in your care. I believe that’s far from fussing.” The blonde’s smirk fell into a gentle smile of understanding before she began to look around her room. Her eyes eventually fell on a young woman who seemed perhaps the most terrified she had ever seen anyone. “This her?” She asked as she was led in. “Hello sweetheart... my name is Dr. Cassiel, but you can call me Ariel. Miss Diana called me to take a look at your injuries.. if you’re up to it.. can we talk about what happened?” After finding a nearby chair, the angel opened up her medical bag and taking out the instruments that she needed.
