BIOGRAPHY.

In the Rios household, family is absolutely everything. Antonia’s mother always said that she was the last piece their family needed to complete their foursome and she was their light. Outside of Antonia, her mother, father and her older brother, there was a litany of cousins, aunts and uncles and she was constantly surrounded by people who reminded her exactly how loved she was. This is perhaps why in her later years, she believes that everyone is deserving of love and will try her hardest to give it to them. Growing up for her was easier than many and she didn’t really have to work for very much. Her mother and father gave her practically whatever she wanted that was in reason. She was also quite close with her older brother and the two were thick as thieves. In a way, some believed that the four of them were the perfect family. 

When Antonia was fourteen, her brother (who was seventeen at the time) went missing while he was out with his friends. Nobody knew why someone would want to do this to such a kindhearted boy and shortly after, everyone in Antonia’s life spent countless hours trying to get him back. It took about two years for the case to go completely cold and watching people lose faith in her brother’s safety destroyed Antonia to her core. Considering the amount of years her brother has been missing he has been presumed dead, but she still holds out faith that he’s out there.

On her eighteenth birthday, Antonia’s parents sat her down and admitted something to her: Daniella was immortal and had fallen in love with a human despite knowing that one of them would live forever while the other would not. Her mother’s side of the family contained very powerful Phoenix lineage, a species thought to not even exist. Antonia still wonders why her mother put herself through that kind of pain, the inevitable loss she will experience when her father passes on and definitely struggles to this day to understand it. She would then go off to Columbia University to study English, but spent most of her days searching for more information about who she was. New York was a big place, a new city and for a girl who had spent most of her life surrounded by her family — it was quite overwhelming. All of that changed, however, when she met her best friend. He too came from supernatural lineage and it seemed almost like fate that the two of them were brought together (WANTED CONNECTION). After graduation, the two of them left their college-town to travel the world.

They lived rather independently together for a couple of years -- traveling and experiencing beyond their wildest dreams. There was one day, however, where Antonia woke up and he was no longer at her side, all for a reason that she did not know. She was heartbroken. She spent the next year or so wandering rather aimlessly with no destination in mind, and that was how she ended up in Halloweentown around five months ago. Here, she decided that she’d build a life for herself and actually settle down -- as uncomfortable as the thought makes her after traveling for so many years. 

She now teaches English at Halloweentown University and spends many of her days in her office, grading papers and reading. While she seems a bit more quiet and reserved, she will never turn away anyone who appears to be in need of a friend or a listening ear. Even though she knows that she will live forever and cannot be killed, Antonia still searches for things or people that make her life meaningful. Teaching has certainly given her that. She also finds great comfort in her ability to make people happy and frequently puts others before herself. Much of her life, even when traveling has been spent in books: studying and trying to learn even more than she already knows.
