Chasing Sunlight | Felix | 6
The morning sun stretched across the rolling hills of Queensland's Sunshine Coast Hinterland, painting the landscape in shades of gold and green. Eucalyptus trees swayed gently in the breeze while distant birds called from the forest beyond the estate. The venue sat atop a hillside overlooking endless countryside, with glimpses of the ocean visible in the distance. Decorated in warm ivory, soft sage, dusty blue, and touches of gold, it felt elegant without being extravagant and beautiful without feeling overwhelming.
Most importantly, it felt like Felix.
Inside the bridal suite, however, there was nothing peaceful about the atmosphere.
Your bridesmaids moved around the room in organized chaos, trying to finish last-minute details while simultaneously making each other laugh. Someone was fixing a loose curl, someone else was searching for a missing lipstick, and one unfortunate bridesmaid had somehow spilled coffee on herself less than two hours before the ceremony.
You sat near the balcony doors with your bouquet resting on your lap, trying to focus on the view instead of the way your heart had been racing all morning.
Today, you were marrying Felix.
The man who remembered your coffee order better than his own.
The man who always reached for your hand without thinking.
The man who somehow made every ordinary day feel special.
The realization hit you all over again.
By tonight, he'd be your husband.
One of your bridesmaids noticed your expression and immediately sat beside you.
"A little?" she repeated. "You've been staring out that window for twenty minutes."
"Okay, maybe more than a little."
The room erupted into teasing immediately. Someone started a betting pool on whether you or Felix would cry first. Someone else argued Felix had already lost before the ceremony even started.
They were probably right.
Across the estate, Felix wasn't handling things much better.
If anything, he looked suspiciously calm.
The problem was that nobody believed it.
"That's the fifteenth time you've checked the rings."
Felix immediately closed the small velvet box in his hands.
A few minutes later, he opened the box again.
The room burst into laughter.
"Okay, maybe I'm checking them a little."
"A little?" Seungmin repeated. "You look like airport security."
That only made everyone laugh harder.
Felix leaned back in his chair, smiling despite himself. Every attempt to hide how excited he was had failed hours ago. Somehow every conversation kept finding its way back to you.
When breakfast had been served, he'd mentioned your favorite coffee.
When someone asked about honeymoon plans, he'd talked about how excited you were.
When Hyunjin asked if he was nervous, Felix somehow turned the conversation into a story about the first time you'd met.
The members had completely given up pretending not to notice.
"You've talked about Y/N in literally every conversation today."
He opened his mouth to argue.
Then immediately stopped.
A smile appeared on his face as he glanced out the window toward the ceremony pavilion in the distance.
For a moment, the teasing faded.
"She's going to look incredible."
Because the way he said it wasn't dramatic.
Felix had spent years looking at you like you were the best thing that had ever happened to him.
Today wasn't going to be any different.
A little while later, the photographer asked him a simple question.
"What are you most excited for today?"
The answer came immediately.
And somehow that answer told everyone everything they needed to know.
By early afternoon, the estate looked even more beautiful than it had that morning. The sunlight had softened into a warm golden glow stretching across the hills while guests began arriving and music drifted through the gardens.
Before you knew it, someone was telling you it was time for the first look.
The reality of the day settled over you all at once.
This was really happening.
The coordinators led you down a winding stone path tucked between eucalyptus trees. At the end of the trail was a secluded overlook facing the mountains.
Felix stood waiting near the railing.
For the first time all day, he looked completely still.
A moment later, your footsteps sounded behind him.
The photographer laughed quietly.
"I'm not turning around."
"You're thinking about it."
The sound of your laughter reached him first.
And somehow that made his heart race even faster.
When you finally reached him, you gently tapped his shoulder.
And completely forgot how to speak.
For several long seconds, he simply stared.
His eyes traveled from your veil to your smile and back again as if he couldn't quite believe what he was seeing.
You were smiling by the time tears started filling his eyes.
His voice cracked so badly that it made both of you laugh.
"No, seriously. You look incredible."
For a few moments, neither of you said much.
Felix simply held your hands and smiled.
The kind of smile that made it impossible not to smile back.
The photographer eventually had to remind both of you that there were photos to take.
Even then, Felix spent most of them looking at you instead of the camera.
As the afternoon faded into evening, guests gathered beneath the wooden pavilion overlooking the hills. White flowers and eucalyptus greenery lined the aisle while string lights hung overhead waiting for nightfall.
At the front stood Felix.
His earlier nerves had returned.
Not because he was scared.
Because in a few minutes he was going to watch you walk toward him.
The moment the music changed and everyone stood, he looked toward the end of the aisle.
The world seemed to slow.
The music faded into the background.
All Felix could see was you.
Looking happier than he'd ever seen you.
Changbin glanced over from the front row.
By the time you reached the altar, Felix looked like he was trying very hard not to become emotional.
The smile on his face gave him away completely.
When your hands finally found his, some of the nerves disappeared.
The officiant spoke about friendship, commitment, and choosing each other every day.
And then it was time for vows.
Felix unfolded several note cards.
You immediately started laughing.
"How many pages is that?"
"Y/N, people always ask me what my favorite memory is. The truth is I can never answer because somehow every time I'm with you, it becomes my new favorite."
His eyes never left yours.
"You've made ordinary moments feel important. You've made difficult seasons easier. You've shown me what kindness looks like every single day, and you've taught me that home isn't really a place. It's a person."
"I promise to choose you when life is exciting and when life is ordinary. I promise to support your dreams, hold your hand through every challenge, and spend the rest of my life making sure you know how deeply you're loved."
A few guests wiped their eyes.
"You are my best friend, my favorite person, and the greatest gift God has ever given me. I love you more than I could ever put into words, and I can't wait to spend forever proving it."
By the time he finished, his eyes were shining.
"Felix, before I met you, I thought people exaggerated when they talked about finding their best friend. Then I met you, and suddenly I understood. You became the person I wanted to tell everything to, the first person I wanted to call when something good happened, and the first person I wanted beside me when life felt difficult."
You squeezed his hands gently.
"You've shown me what kindness looks like, not just in big moments but in ordinary ones. The way you care for people, encourage people, and love everyone around you so intentionally is one of the things I admire most about you."
Several members smiled knowingly.
"And one of the things I admire most is how deeply you love your fans. You've always treated them with kindness, patience, and gratitude, and I promise I'll always support the heart you have for the people who support you."
Felix's expression softened instantly.
"I also promise that I will forever swoon every single time I hear your deep voice."
Felix immediately looked embarrassed.
"I'm serious. Everyone else may get used to it, but I never will."
The members started laughing.
"I promise to support your dreams, pray for you, celebrate every success beside you, and stand beside you through every difficult season."
Then you paused dramatically.
The guests immediately laughed.
"And yes, I promise that one day I will allow you to buy a few actual chickens."
Felix doubled over laughing.
The laughter somehow got louder.
"And absolutely not hundreds of BbokAri stuffed animals."
Felix placed a hand over his heart.
The members completely lost it.
"You already own enough."
"There is no such thing as enough."
You shook your head, smiling.
Then your expression softened.
"But most importantly, I promise to choose you every single day. When life is exciting. When life is ordinary. When things are easy and when they aren't. I promise to be your safe place, your biggest supporter, your best friend, and the person who loves you for the rest of our lives."
By now, tears were filling Felix's eyes again.
This time he didn't even try to hide them.
Felix smiled through happy tears.
The guests laughed warmly.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife."
The second he was allowed, he pulled you into a kiss.
The guests erupted into cheers.
The reception felt less like a formal wedding and more like the biggest family celebration imaginable.
Dinner stretched late into the evening beneath hundreds of glowing lights while laughter echoed across the lawn. The sunset melted into shades of orange and pink before giving way to a sky filled with stars.
Later, it was finally time for your first dance.
As the opening notes of The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra drifted through the speakers, Felix immediately reached for your hand.
The crowd disappeared almost instantly.
For a while, neither of you spoke.
You simply swayed together beneath the fairy lights while the music surrounded you.
Every time the song mentioned how lovely someone looked tonight, Felix's smile grew wider.
"It's just... you really do look beautiful tonight."
Your heart melted instantly.
As the song continued, Felix rested his forehead against yours.
For once, he wasn't performing.
He wasn't entertaining anyone.
He was simply a husband dancing with his wife.
And somehow that made the moment even more special.
Halfway through the dance, he leaned down.
"You've been waiting all day to say that."
"And yet you married me anyway."
As the final verse played, he pulled you a little closer.
When the song ended, applause erupted around the room.
Felix didn't immediately let go.
Instead, he smiled down at you and whispered softly enough that only you could hear.
"You know, Sinatra got it wrong."
"Because no song could ever explain how beautiful you look tonight."
The rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter, speeches, dancing, and memories.
Hyunjin somehow convinced several relatives to join a dance circle.
Changbin challenged your cousins to a dance battle.
Seungmin was caught stealing desserts from multiple tables.
Han nearly fell out of his chair laughing during one of the speeches.
Felix spent most of the evening looking for you.
Not because he couldn't find you.
Because every time he did, he got to remind himself this was real.
Near ten o'clock, guests gathered outside with lanterns and fairy lights. Warm lights illuminated the pathway leading away from the venue while the mountains stretched dark against the starlit sky.
Hand in hand, you and Felix walked through a tunnel of cheering family and friends.
At the end of the path sat a vintage cream Land Rover decorated with white flowers.
Felix opened the door dramatically.
But stepped inside anyway.
As the vehicle pulled away, the lights of the venue slowly disappeared behind you.
For a few minutes, neither of you spoke.
Felix simply held your hand, tracing small circles across your knuckles with his thumb.
Finally, he looked over and smiled.
Ahead of you waited two weeks in Bora Bora, overwater bungalows, crystal-clear water, and sunsets painted in shades of gold and pink.
But for now, none of that mattered.
Because after all the years that led to this moment, the waiting was finally over.
And Felix couldn't stop smiling.
Not because the wedding was perfect.
Not because the day was beautiful.
But because at the end of it all, he got to leave with you.
Felix was probably one of the easiest members for me to imagine as a husband because so much of who he is already feels rooted in kindness, loyalty, and love. While writing this story, I wanted the wedding to reflect those qualities—not through a grand venue or extravagant details, but through the little moments that make a relationship feel real. The nervous smiles, the inside jokes, the way he looks at Y/N when she isn't paying attention, and the quiet certainty that he would spend the rest of his life choosing her.
I chose the Sunshine Coast Hinterland because it felt like the perfect reflection of Felix himself. Warm sunlight, rolling hills, eucalyptus trees, and a relaxed atmosphere that feels beautiful without trying too hard. In my mind, Felix was never the groom focused on having the biggest wedding. He was the groom who only cared about one thing: seeing Y/N.
My favorite part to write was the first look. There's something so special about imagining Felix standing there trying to stay calm, only to completely forget every coherent thought the second he turns around and sees the person he loves. Out of every moment in the story, that one felt the most like him. Not because he cried or got emotional, but because he looked at Y/N with the same warmth and admiration that he's always shown the people he cares about.
I also loved writing all the little details that made the relationship feel lived-in. The chicken debate, the BbokAri argument, Felix accidentally bringing Y/N into every conversation, and his inability to stop smiling all day. Those moments remind me that the strongest relationships aren't built on perfect romantic speeches. They're built on friendship, laughter, and knowing someone so well that even your arguments become cherished memories.
At its heart, this story isn't really about a wedding. It's about finding someone who feels like home. Someone who makes ordinary moments special, who stands beside you through every season, and who still makes your heart race years later. For Felix and Y/N, that person will always be each other.
And somewhere in Bora Bora, Felix is probably still trying to convince his wife that he needs more chickens.
Spoiler alert: he's still losing that argument.
