Comments like these are why we should never ever EVER stop talking about the allegations. Because people forget, and apologists and misogynists will use that to downplay the seriousness of the heinous shit this man did to women for decades. And, sooner or later, Gaiman himself will use that to try and make a comeback, which will once again allow him access to a lot of vulnerable people for him to take advantage of.

@sendarya you need to do something about your discord server. It's unacceptable that this type of victim-blaming is allowed to run rampant on public channels on the server, while any pushback against this narrative is redirected to a locked "Neil Gaiman accusations" channel due to needing to "protect minors." Isn't victim-blaming far more harmful to minors?

We can tell youth that they are basically “rapists waiting to happen” (anti-rape initiative), or we can tell them that we know they would intervene if they saw harm happening to someone and we want to help empower them to do that (bystander intervention). The kids jump in with both feet for the latter! It was amazing to see children (and young boys in particular) excited to do this work and engage their creativity with it. Also, studies show that not only do they go on to intervene, but they also do not go on to sexually assault people themselves. Bystander intervention also takes the onus off the person being targeted to deter rape and empowers the collective to do something about it. It answers the question in the room when giggling boys are carrying an unconscious young woman up the stairs at a house party, and people are not sure how to respond and are waiting for “someone” to say or do something.

Technopathology is a rape apologist who admits to allegations in a comment under a rambling incoherent post on R/Justiceforjohnnydepp. The unknown victim has never made a public statement either (his name is literally out there publicly) that I could find so methinks that was preemptive shutting down her voice.

if this sort of content is too triggering for you to read about (and of course that’s okay) just know that it was beyond bad. just some really really vile, horrific stuff. neil gaiman continues to deny these extensive and detailed claims and is seeking revenge via lawsuits, because he doesn’t know when to quit.

it seems that a lot people aren’t aware of this, but false allegations are EXTREMELY rare. it takes massive amounts of strength and courage to come forward about this kind of thing, not to mention endure the backlash that occurs afterwards. nobody wants to go through that, especially when there’s a rich and powerful man involved. it’s brutal and it’s terrifying.

the best thing you can do is accept allegations as truth. yes, every time. yes, even when the perpetrator is your best friend or a celebrity you love. that’s what believing survivors means.

the incredibly brave women who came forward (and there were nine of them. nine. think for a minute about nine different people you know. that’s how many) are valuable, and their stories have meaning and importance. believe them. you can make such a difference.

i know MANY of you that have already made generous donations to charities that support survivors, but if you haven’t yet, i recommend our voice! our voice is a fantastic organization that i can vouch for personally, and it’s also the organization that neil gaiman himself said he would donate a large a large sum of money to and then never did. seems like a great way to help patch the hole he left in so many people’s lives, don’t you think?

So here’s an unfortunate reminder of the past. I’ve cut a screen grab of it rather than reblogging, because fuck that guy he doesn’t get another reblog out of me. I’ve also cut out the original questioner because I don’t think it’s fair to unnecessarily expose them even if the post is public.

I used to get so many notifications on people liking this reblog. Then when the allegations came out (which if I remember correctly was only days later) they thankfully trickled away. I got another one just now and it reminded me when I heard Aziraphale say pedometer in the finale it frankly felt like such a gut punch. Which is a shame considering it was during in what was, in my opinion, one of the best scenes in the finale.

It’s proof that what we got truly was all NG’s work and not something that was re-written as so many had assumed. The fact that this moment was also something preserved out of everything that had been cut, a thing specifically mentioned by NG and probably one of the last snippets we got before he was cancelled and thrust from this platform, is yet again another telling sign of how much the two other writers probably upheld his story and vision.
