I don't ever typically post my own stuff on here, but hey why not start now? So I've been seeing a therapist the past few months, and the one question she asked me two days ago was who takes care of me? Emotionally of course. And I was stunned because I honestly had no answer. To anyone who feels to same way, maybe you'll like this poem: Who takes care of me? Who is my shoulder to not only cry upon But have listen, comprehend. Even take action upon. Who catches my tears before they even have the chance to fall? Who holds me, not for any reason but just because In a tight wound, long lasting hug. Who listens to what I say? And I mean to those long, sometimes angry thoughts Not just one fleeting. Who hears my cries And does not just briefly listen, but consider what may be wrong in the long run And how they can help. Who makes sure I'm happy Who keeps my smile grinning? Is it you? Is it him? Is it she? No. It's no one, but me. I take care of me I cry onto my pillow I catch my own tears I hear what I say I hear my cries I'd try to even hug myself, but that's just sad. But you know what I cannot do? I cannot make sure that I am happy. Not on my own that is But I'm trying to learn. And I hope I succeed Because as sad as it is, The only one I can really count on Is me. If you've gotten this far, then thanks for reading my little poetry rant. You're awesome. We all are in charge of our own happiness in the end, remember. And if your going through a tough time like me where no one is there to emotionally support you, I feel ya. But I know it can only get better from here.
