zay + riley || cider & square dancing
newrileytown:
By the time several songs had passed, Riley was leaning her head against Zay’s shoulder as they moved quite tranquilly through the space. When he finally spoke to grab her attention from the throwback early 2000s rock ballad playing, she lifted her head to look at her dance partner.
“Yeah?” she answered quietly, unable for some reason to speak any louder as if breaking the relative softness of the dance would break the charm as well.
He didn’t know what took over him. He was listening to the song and humming along as they danced and suddenly the lines hit him
It’s you and me and all of the people and I don’t know why, I can’t keep my eyes off of you
Those words rang true for him. He truly couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. As they spun in small circles he continued to listen to the lyrics, relating to each one. There was something about her now. He couldn’t figure out what it was. As she responded to him and looked up at her with those big eyes, a wave of emotion came over him.
Zay bent down and captured Riley’s lips on his own, throwing caution into the wind as he kissed her softly. The whole night he had been thinking about it, and the song finally pushed him over the edge to do it.
