“you would? thank you, thank you!” four eyes are better than two, even if the other girl probably doesn’t know what she’s looking for. at this point, star barely knows herself. shopping here isn’t the same as in mewni. “yeah, exactly! where i come from, the stump is a sign of unity and perseverance.” after all the things she’s done for mewni, she’s probably earned a holiday of her own by now, but somehow the meager contributions of the stump seem more worthy of celebration to star.

his connection to mal has always felt natural, immediate, despite what everyone else might think. and maybe that makes him a bad person, or at least, not the kind of person he would like to be. but the way he sees it, ben follows his heart in all matters, for better or worse, and love spell or no love spell, he was always destined to be with her, and audrey never would have been right for him. ben hugs her back, burying his face in her hair, and he’s only slightly disappointed when she pulls away. “oh, good,” he says with false relief and a grin, his hand immediately raising to rest on hers. “perhaps both? but definitely pies. my mother may be able to help us with the recipe.” he’s heard the crust is the hardest part. “let’s agree never to be magically separated again?” if such a thing was possible, he would promise in a heartbeat. “oh, about…four months? it felt much longer. how were things in auradon, before…?” he trails off, hoping that everyone else is in walton creek now, too, he just hasn’t seen them yet.

          “  whatcha studying ?  ”    carter asks  ,   making friendly conversation   (  which she’s  SLIGHTLY  better at since the whole rosie thing  )   as the younger gets comfortable  .     she scrunches her nose  ,   she shakes her head  .     “  nah  ,   i’m finished with finals  .   kind of only took a few classes  ,   what they offer here isn’t  …  a lot of what i’m interested in  ,  ”    carter says with a shrug  .    she sticks out her hand  ,   offers a grin  .     “  ‘m carter  .  ”  

“I could write a song about all the hobbies I have,” Punzie laughs, she had actually done that once. “Thank you!” she says at the compliment before blushing slightly. “It’s funny you should mention that,” Rapunzel moves her braid so it rests more comfortably over her shoulder. “I am the lost princess!” She sips her drink, waiting for the girl’s reaction. 

walton creek continues to be nothing like echo creek, especially as winter approaches, but she remedied that situation by buying a brand new puffer jacket in a pale blue that marco said made her look like a pastel marshmellow, but in a cute way, so she obviously bought it. it was draped over the empty seat beside her when a girl she faintly recognized approached. “wha–no, not at all!” star said with a wide smile, hurrying to move her jacket. “that’s a pretty color,” she commented, her eyes on the smoothie, before they suddenly cut back to the girl. “you’re a…uh…junior, right? me, too!” sometimes she still forgot the names of the specific grades. they didn’t make any sense, except maybe back when she was a freshman. “i’m star.”

                 “ LOOK AT THIS ! “   Rosie beams, offering the guest their cup of fro-yo. But it wasn’t just ANY fro-yo ;  it was quite possibly the most  p e r f e c t  swirl of fro-yo to ever grace this world  ( or at least, this store ).   “ Isn’t it beautiful ? “   She’s proud of her handiwork, inspecting it even as it moves to their hands.   “ I hope you enjoy it ! “   //  @waltonstart​

the apple topples out of his hand and he’s surprised he even has the forethought to roll it back on top of the others. clearly he doesn’t know much, but he does know an apple once dropped on the floor is no longer good to sell. “hm, let’s see…what would only the real ben know?” he leans closer to place a soft kiss to her forehead, pausing there as if considering his own question, when really he just wants to be close to her again. this situation hasn’t been like when she ran away to the isle, at least he knew where she was and it was within his abilities to go after her. even if he’s been safe in walton creek, and hopefully she’s been safe too, he will always prefer running headlong into danger if it means being with her sooner. he pulls away to look her in the eyes and laughs. “i don’t know, can i offer something lame like my middle name?” when she addresses his earlier question, he glances over at the apples as if forgetting about them entirely. “then it’s all the more important i pick out the perfect one for you to try! oh, and did i mention that i missed you?”

it had been two hours after school ended, and lucas had lost track of time, as he was trying to finish his history essay, which was due monday. he finally give in to taking a break for a while (or the rest of the day) after getting a look from another student at the loudness of his stomach grumbling. so, to phoenicia diner he goes.

lucas pops in, sits down at the counter, and orders his usual – bacon cheeseburger with fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. he also orders a tall glass of sweet tea, a rather bad habit he’s kept from his childhood living in texas. (hey, once a southern boy, always a southern boy.) he thanks the pretty waitress and tucks into his burger. after taking a large bite, his attention is grabbed by someone sitting down next to him. “gwoob eff - nin,” he tries to get out, his words muffled by the food. (translation: good evening) about to continue to say something else, lucas freezes, suddenly unable to breathe. he begins coughing to try and get the food lodged in his throat out, and it only takes a minute or two until he’s breathing normally again. he chews slowly (and silently) before swallowing. “i guess that’ll teach me not to try talking while my mouth is full,” he states rather bashfully. “definitely should’ve listened to my mama about that.” 

“hoo boy, i hope so.” what the heck is she gonna do if there’s nothing stumpy in walton creek? ignore the holiday and just focus on “christmas” and her “birthday” instead? not likely! “nobody is these days,” she said with a frown. this is why she missed her fellow mewmans, this time of year especially. “anything at all, in the shape of a stump…is that a theme? i’d love to find little stump mugs.” they were a classic.

sarah hadn’t exactly wanted to sit with anyone at the cafeteria today, she would much rather be alone, but the other had seemed so upset that she didn’t want to flat out turn her down. “no, please sit, i’m just studying a bit.” she reassured the other female with a grin.

          he chuckled softly , “ this ? ” he point to the pile he had set off to the side . “ just something to occupy my free time .” he’s been so closed off from society that even he hasn’t made much friends with anything other than the library books that its refreshing to actually talk to someone other than the people he already knew . he shakes her hand in response and gestures to the seat beside him , “ yeah . ” he replied . “ four months ago i probably would have said something else but until i figure out the logic to this alternate universe of a town , yeah , i go to walton creek high . ” he glances over at her , eyes analyzing his next move . “ let me guess , you’re still pretty new here ? when’d you arrive ? ”

looking up from his array of history notes, lucas offers the pretty brunette a smile. “you wouldn’t be a bother,” he says, his country accent slipping out along with the words. “go ahead; the seat now has your name on it.” he motions with his hand for the girl to sit down. once she’s settled in, the blond takes a sip from his coffee (black with a little bit of sugar) and lets out a sigh looking at the pile of papers in front of him. “history isn’t my best subject,” he states in explanation to the other. under his breath, he adds, “and it was a lot easier when i had mr. matthews as my teacher.”

she had been bored all day and had needed something to do to keep her mind off of things, so when she encountered a potential opponent, she waved them over. “hey, you! yes you, over there!” maddie called out to the other as she ran after them. “you wanna play a game, 1 on 1? i promise i won’t let you win because that’s just not how i roll, but i’ll go easy on you, promise. so what do you say?” @waltonstart​
