Chocolate Amber - Bath and Body Works
For my header sake, I thought it would be fitting to have my first official post be about chocolate amber! The main notes are vanilla orchid, honeyed chocolate and warm amber.
As someone who doesn't have a huge fragrance collection, I think it's a pretty complex scent. When you first spray it you get this powdery floral but once it dries onto your skin it immediately goes into a spicy chocolate that just smells really pleasant. As you wear it though, that powder smell comes back with just a hint of that orchid. To me, it's reminiscent of magazine paper which for me is really nostalgic. Reminds me of going through my mom's old magazines and sniffing the perfume pages despite whatever scent they had being long gone.
It's a very mature scent though, lasts a long time too. might be the way I use fragrance (I'm VERY heavy handed, like 5-10 sprays on each arm, major pulse points, clothes, etc.) but on a hot day where I'm sweating a bunch, it'll still last till night.
My one grievance is that I wish the chocolate lasted longer, it lingers for the first hour/hour and a half then it just turns into a powdery floral. Which my no means is a bad thing, I'm just not a huge floral girlie.
For what to pair it with, I'd pair it with:
Whiskey Reserve (Bath and Body Works)
Crafted Cognac (Bath and Body Works)
Inner Angel (Bath and Body Works)

Fragrantica did a pretty solid job on the notes. I don't have many (if not no) animalic scents, but I wouldn't describe it as so. I know that skin musk is technically considered animalic, though for me the distinction is that a true animalic has a bit more of a dirty raw smell, like you're rushing through the forest holding onto the hand of a pretty girl in red who's leading you to a cliff or something. Chocolate amber on the other hand smells like a hotel room after a one night stand. The girl's perfume is still lingering on the sheets mixed with the sweat of your activities the night before. I may be getting too eccentric ORZ.
Good scent, very fun and mature. Best for the fall, maybe around September and early November.
