The Museum of Broken Relationships lets you anonymously drop off items that remind you of your ex, then turns your story into an exhibit. The displays have helped thousands of people heal by giving them the ‘chance to overcome an emotional collapse through creativity.’ Starting as a traveling art project in 2006, it’s now seen over 45 temporary (and 2 permanent) locations around the world. CurlFest is the ultimate celebration of natural hair and this year’s event in Brooklyn on Saturday was magical in every way.  

Thousands of men and women of color showed up and showed off their locks at the annual day-long festival. The event, which was created by the Curly Girl Collective and first kicked off in 2014, has only grown bigger and more impactful over time.

CurlFest is so important for black people, especially black women. We can celebrate the beauty of our hair, of our culture. We not only celebrate ourselves, but also get inspired and empowered looking around seeing like-minded people and our love for each other.We are the community, we are in this together and it’s so beautiful we have things like CurlFest to feel even more united.
