Gravel beach on the south side of Birch Bay. On the long spit that tries so hard to keep Terrell Creek from reaching the bay.

Pebbles and oyster shell. A brisk day at the beach, with clouds gradually clearing over the Olympics. Seabeck WA.

My favorite part of the beach is what’s left at high tide, with drift logs and a blending of land and sea. Unfortunately, it’s usually the most convenient place to build a parking lot. Illahee State Park. Kitsap County WA.

A small stream. Southerly waves (though not today) and northward drift. A gravel spit. A complex beach for such a simple spot. Narrows Park. Gig Harbor WA.
