arlo grew up in mystic falls. he's never left town for a long amount of time. he's the youngest of two kids and his parents were also raised in the town.

he never really wanted to leave. he finds staying in a place he knows to be rather comfortable. even if somewhere deep inside his desire to leave is strong.

he won't admit that one reason why he hasn't left town is due to his werewolf curse. it's been passed down to him from his mom. from a young age he was told about the curse. all his siblings were.

breaking the curse was something he feared growing up. he never thought he could take a human life. he tries to be very careful everyday.

arlo knows that one day he'll have to break the curse. almost like it's his destiny. but for now, he's staying with it intact.

empyrean's a million year old angel who always has been fond of earth and mostly humans. he's had a dozen vessels throughout the years he's been around. but none of them have felt like they really wanted to be his vessel despite saying 'yes'. they all seemed to find ways to fight against him and literally get him forced out of their bodies.

he didn't think he'd actually find one that will let him stay longer than just a few months. that was until he found emerson grey. he heard his selfish cries for help on becoming not a rockstar, but a popular musician who actually gets a crowd at his shows instead of an empty room empyrean liked that his potential vessel didn't want to become famous. he just wanted to live a comfortable life. that's what he gathered from him while watching the human. he only watched from afar until one day he realized emerson was the one who he needed.

he created a vision for emerson that showed him, with empyrean taking control, that he would have the success he desired. that he wouldn't be rich, but he'd be stable enough to make a good living to survive. that vision was enough to get emerson to say 'yes' to empyrean taking over his body. their connection seemed to work for the both of them and empyrean has been possessing the singer for almost two years now. it was a new record for him. both seemed happy with their arrangement.

he still feels emerson inside his mind, body, but he's dormant enough to not put up a fight or try to kick him out of his body. empyrean figures that emerson is just as content as he is.

they were doing fine until empyrean started hearing rumors about an unraveling taken place amongst them. other angels are calling out to him to join in the search of what holds everything together. he doesn't want to ruin the progress he's made with his human. he had been told by fellow musicians that a small record company was looking to sign emerson to their label. but his duty as angel outweighs the desire of a human vessel. thus he sent himself off to mystic falls.

it's risky but it's one that he's willing to take for heaven and his fellow angels. he believes no one knows that he's an angel unless somehow they can tell. he introduces himself to strangers using his vessel's name. it's his way of keeping them both safe or at least trying to.

all he can do now is wait to see how he can help and if any other angels are in the town looking for a way to put a stop to things. until they find out what's going on, he's going to eat as many things as he can and try to seem as human as possible.

He thinks it's dumb to chase something neither of them know about, but he'd be damned if he lets them go on their own. After all, they're idgits and they need him. When angry or upset cause he lost, you may hear him say balls. But he’s just old. If he’s sleeping and not moving, please don’t call the cops. He’s totally fine. Just an old man who needs all of his sleep.
