I find this string of posts pretty funny, but I also have some thoughts on it. Bandits are usually murderers, rapists, robbers. - Things that get a man outlawed. I'm sure there are *SOME PEOPLE* who turn to banditry for a cause that's justified to them, but all the great many bandit activities are just cause for killing. As nuanced as it can be, I will give a short range of times where it is acceptable TO give mercy to a bandit. Bandits should be shown mercy when they surrender. - The mercy of a trial may await them, and thus the gallows, but so long as they do not betray such a notion of surrender (Ie, pretending to give up to let your guard down) one may then honor this. When they actually haven't killed or hurt anyone physically. You really have to prove this, but if one were to be robbing travelers on the road and living in the woods what's the real harm? Just make them pay up to the government and it's effectively a toll booth for the King.
