ooo these are good
24. I could simply not take the pressure of being a GM 💀 maybe somewhere farther down in the management hierarchy though? gmet make me your apprentice!
On the other hand…if I was Canesmin I’d be making those guys do some pretty silly things
25. One of my favorite things about watching hockey is experiencing it with a community, whether that be with my family, friends, or online. I know that’s generally the same with every other sport but still! Still cool.
But I also love watching because after a while you’re able to really recognize certain plays, patterns within the game, and aspects of specific players games. I’m not super into any other sport to that extent, so it just adds another level of understanding and enjoyment for me!
and when you see me on the broadcast at the october 29th game dressed up as Tripp Tracy behind the Hurricanes bench, look away

Hockey Asks!
How/when did you get into hockey?
Are you a fan of any other sports?
Do/did you or anyone close to you play hockey?
Has hockey inspired you to try any new activities (e.g. learning to skate)?
If you’re a fan of a team in a city you don’t live in, how did you pick them? If you’re a fan of your local team, do you follow any non-local teams?
Do you go to games? If so, what’s your favorite part of seeing them in-person?
Are you a fan of any fictional hockey media, or just the real thing?
Do you collect merchandise or memorabilia (cards, pucks, jerseys etc)?
What is a moment from a game you’ll always remember watching live?
Do you watch games alone or with others (irl or virtual)?
If you had to add a color to your team’s color scheme, what would it be?
What’s the weirdest place you’ve watched a game?
Have you ever met any players, either by chance or at team signing–type events?
Have you gotten anyone else into hockey?
If you had to commentate a game, would you rather do play-by-play or color?
If you could change, add, or remove a rule from the game, what would it be?
Have you started using any hockey slang in other contexts?
Do you sacrifice sleep to watch games at late/early hours?
Do you have a favorite ultra-specific hockey stat?
What is your favorite jersey from a team you're not a fan of?
Should [insert league here] expand? If so, where do you want the next team?
What is your most hockey player–esque habit irl?
What is one overused question you wish you could make beat reporters stop asking?
Would you rather work for your team's social media (pitch/produce content) or general management (have a say in trades/drafting)?
What is your favorite thing about watching hockey?
paywalled article. notes translated by u/Skameleon_fi on reddit (linked in source). I’m copying their translated text verbatim, but please thank them there!
Seth Jarvis was seen in ”his favourite european city” Pori with Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The two were attending a women’s Finnish baseball match. Article incl. photo with Jarvis and his sling after shoulder surgery (partly behind paywall) in Finnish.
Main takeaways:
Jarvis is visiting Finland from Sunday to Thursday before heading to Denmark and Freddie’s wedding.
About his shoulder injury: Jarvis had to have shoulder surgery after the championship celebrations. He won't even have time to recover from that by the start of the upcoming NHL season. ”Hopefully I'll be fit to play when we come to Finland in mid-November to play against the Seattle Kraken. I've known about the injury for about three years, but it hasn't really affected my playing. Now was a good time to get it fixed, though.
"If there's a lockout in the NHL, I'll come play for the Pori Aces," Jarvis says, knowing the team's name and pronouncing it very well in Finnish.
About KK:
The summer is an exceptionally exciting and in many ways uncertain time for KK. It is very possible that he will be traded to another NHL club before the start of next season. However, at this stage everything is still quite calm, and there are no direct transfer rumors anywhere. ”The rest of the summer may then be more urgent and quite interesting in that direction.”
”I should be able to play and I want playing time above all else. You always know that a transfer could happen at any time. It's a business and there's a certain uncertainty about where I'll play next season. The NHL is a tough world in that way," Kotkaniemi reflects.
Purely from a playing career perspective, a transfer would be very important for Kotkaniemi. On the other hand, a transfer always involves many things outside the rink. For example, he and Jarvis moved to the Hurricanes at the same time five seasons ago.
“He’s a good friend of mine. Ultimately, we have pretty similar, easygoing personalities and we get along great when we play golf, for example. He never really has bad days.”
“The hardest part about a potential transfer would definitely be that I’ve lived in Raleigh for five years now. That has given me time to build a lot of life and friendships.”
Even though the two might play on different teams against each other next season, Kotkaniemi is very pleased that Jarvis promised to play for the Aces during a possible lockout. ”It’s really good that it’s now completely black and white,” Kotkaniemi laughs.
now why would he wear a tan suit
I hope everyone loses the world cup and then the universe explodes
a hockey player during the off season is a kind of dead wife

the difference to me, by the way, when it comes to sidney crosby’s acts of goodness and kindness versus nico hischier’s, is that i believe sid is aware that he is choosing to do good or kind things because deep in the recesses of his mind exists an abacus on which he is tallying the worth of his soul and he is always fighting in the spiritual trenches to keep that thing in the green. there’s a sort of self-awareness to sid’s kindness and generosity, like a gently smug kind of layer deep down underneath it where he knows he’s just bought himself one more opportunity to grab an opposing player by the knees and spin-launch them into the boards like mario does to bowser. every time he screeches at someone on the ice with a cracking voice that they’re being a pussy or steamrolls into an early-twenties player for no reason but the crime of being gen z he knows he has to go out into the world and perform a miracle. this has nothing to do with his public perception btw he does not care what the world thinks of him. it’s all for his private and meticulously kept internal abacus.
nico, however, does good and is kind because the concept of behaving another way does not seem to ever register in his mind. he is being the best nico he can be. he believes everyone around him, even jack hughes, is both trying their best and also proud of everything they try. even jack hughes! if nico wasn’t a hockey player his chosen career would be like a guy who listens to 911 calls and dispatches himself to them. he’d be a guy who holds the nose of the plane steady during turbulence. he’d be a professional guy who squeezes your hand once and tells you how brave you’re being at the dentists or the doctors. and he’d mean it. he does think you’re being brave. he thinks everyone is being brave. even jack hughes
jarvy and kk in finland!
