she can’t help the twitch of a smile at that comment. she’s barely known him 72 hours; bellamy served him. if anyone would know, she assumed it would be him. the conversation makes her feel a little more peaceful. like that maybe even in this place… in gilead there are still some normal people. she spots the woman. before she advances she speaks to the ground. ‘ i guess i’ll see you at the ceremony. under his eye. ‘ and with that she opens the gate and meets ofcage. eyes drift for just a moment longer as she walks past him again and to the marketplace.

                 Despite  the  clear  fact  that  he’s  hiding  something,     she  still  feels  the  knot  in  her  stomach  grow;     like  a  stabbing  pain  she  wished  would  go  away.     Tris  tells  herself  this  is  easier;     that  this  is  somehow  a  lesser  pain  than  the  mere  possibility  of  allowing  herself  to  wholeheartedly  open  up  to  the  idea  of  them  being  more  than  what  they  are.     But  her  denying  her  feelings  was  only  a  lie  because  deep  down  she  knew  exactly  how  she  felt.     Tris  Prior  was  past  the  point  of  no  return.     Every  inch  of  her  heart  loved  every  inch  of  him.

                 ❛   Yeah,     okay.   ❜     Tris  nods  her  head  and  takes  in   a  deep  breath  before  throwing  her  bag  over  her  shoulder  and  standing  to  her  feet.     ❛   Any  idea  where  we  should  head  next?     I  don’t  know  how  far  it  is  to  the  next  town.   ❜

               He was afraid of losing her. He was afraid that if he let himself become too attached, that he would lose her, just like he lost his mother. He lost everyone around him -- family, alliances, everyone that ever got the slightest bit close to him. He knew that he was in love with her -- knew it well before the night they spent together. But he couldn’t say it -- couldn’t let that be something she knew. Not yet. Maybe not ever.
