but the folk, gospel, and soul musical elements of Aim and Ignite highlight something so fucking. gorgeous about having no idea what you’re doing in life and feeling overwhelmed by chaos. Be Calm is such an amazing opening track, it’s the exact experience of fighting off a panic attack that’s been a long time coming.

the line “You hate your pulse because it thinks you’re still alive” is fucking STELLAR who am i supposed to talk to about this? who?

you know what’s wack? Take Your Time (Coming Home) makes a better acoustic than it does a fully produced song. They cut on the time and the elements that don’t fit and the song’s core shines through. you know what else? The Gambler is a full on beautiful folk song idk what the fuck experience 27 year old Nate Ruess was drawing on but i cried. idk.
