I'm thinking about making a discord server where we'd read books to people who are interested in them. We've done something similar in the past, and know some things of what to include in it, but I want to see how many people would actually be interested in it.

You can reblog (very appreciated!) or leave a comment so we know, and let us know also if you want to be told in DMs or in a comment if we go through we this. In relation to this post, feel free to DM us!

(This is also one of few times we'll be ok with DMs from minors - only w/ current age of 17 please - though we will not respond with much more than a confirmation that we received your DM due to personal boundaries)

What would be included?

Ability for anyone to suggest books to be read

Any trigger warnings for every book/story to be read

Voting for which book to be read next

A scheduled reading that can be multiple times a week

30+ minute reading sessions (max of about 2 hours) depending entirely on what's being read (1 chapter of a long book, whole short story, poetry, etc.)

Ping and identity roles (Reading ping, Genre, Pronouns, anything else suggested idk)

VCs for reading with only readers being able to speak in addition to a VC for chatting

Channels for book-centered talk and channels for talking to each other casually outside of the books

Encouraged to Interact

Other traumagenic systems

Book lovers

Respectful singlets (non-systems)

Audiobook lovers

Anyone who wants to listen to books being read out loud for any reason - dyslexia, poor/no sight, attention problems with reading on your own, or anything else!

DNI

Under 18 (allowed to interact with post/account, but will NOT be able to get into the server until you reach the age of 18. If you're 17 and want to be notified, that's ok, you just won't have access to the server until you're an adult!)

If you're on this next part of the DNI list and you interact, you will be blocked, not answered.

Radqueers, TERFs, homophobes, transphobes, etc.

Anyone that's going to start harassment towards anyone for any reason

People demonizing disorders/disabilities

People demonizing persecutors

People demonizing alters for their source / forcing source separation

1. Our policy on endogenic systems: While we cannot restrict those who use our sources, we wish that our stance on endogenic systems is known: Octocon's bot, app, and communities are not intended to be used by those who identify as non-traumagenic systems in any capacity. In addition, positive discussion of concepts such as purposely creating alters, appropriating tulpamancy, and system hopping are banned.

2. Can I import my alters from Pluralkit or Simply Plural?: Yup! After registering, you can run the "/settings import-pk" or "/settings import-sp" command respectively to import your data. Both require a special token; there are detailed guides for each platform.

3. The app: The anchor of our platform is the Octocon app: A modern, intuitive, and secure application for Android and IOS. It includes the following functionality and more!

Management of alters and personal attributes.

Viewing and editing in-depth front history.

Front notifications from friends.

In-app journaling. The Octocon app is currently live on Google Play with a closed alpha for IOS anticipated at the end of 2024.

4. Stealth mode: When you launch the app, you will see a fake app that looks like a news aggregator. To access the real app, tap the Octocon logo twice. With this, I showed a screenshot of what the app looks like when you open the app with stealth mode enabled.

Keep in mind that this is still a pretty new app. This isn't as advanced/complex, unlike Pluralkit/Simply Plural, which has been around for a long while. All screenshots are below the cut.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I also wanna take this opportunity to coin a new anti endo tag "wild rose" which is the rebel password in final fantasy 2.

Please note we are not looking for sorce mates. Please be nice to us, we have had a rough couple of days with endos invading our space without permission.
