down at the drive-in chapter two

Later that night, Betty lays in her bed, silently begging sleep to come. She has a mandatory AP History study group in the morning that she’s barely prepared for, so consumed by the investigation, and she can’t face it while also sleep deprived.  Her mind wanders back to the Blue and Gold earlier that day, at the way Jughead had commanded the room during their interrogation. At the same time, he’d given her room to ask questions and had easily bounced off her. Her face flushes as the thought crosses her mind: we make a pretty good team. After Dilton had finally left the office, Betty had collapsed onto the beaten up couch. “Is it weird to say I’m kind of pumped with adrenaline right now?” Then she’d looked up and caught Jughead staring at her, this goofy grin on his face that made her heart literally skip a beat.  “No,” he had replied. “It’s not weird at all.”
