My favorite gifts to give are the ones I’ve made, inspired by the person for which I’ve made them. A portrait of my Aunt’s house from a photo taken a couple years ago on Thanksgiving Day. I hope it brings as much joy to her as the joy I felt to make it.

Song · 7:11 min · 2013
Used to always sing this song to myself whenever I was nervous before a performance or presentation going as far back as high school. It was never about the lyrics. Instead, I think it was always about the way the sound would resonate from my vocal chords and sooth my chest from within. This particular renditiin is far above any others I’ve known. Something about the thread into EV belting Spanish atop a magnificent guitar outro lifts me up e’ry singke time. Esta bien

This is my compressed charcoal rendition of one of the oldest known photographs of the Sphinx of Giza circa 1850’s. Still buried in almost a thousand years worth of sand. Photo by Armand de Banville.
Happy Easter! Pastel Pyramids.

Gratuitous collage of the latest series of mountain, ship and sail. “I blame it on my ADD”
Mountainscape clearwater reflection. Second attempt at mountains and first attempt at water reflection. Let it shine.

Hump day mountain study. My first attempt at drawing mountains and I’m already thinking about what to make next,
Hot off the press from this morning. Procrastinated on my taxes while drawing the crown jewel of the US Navy, the USS Constitution “Old Iron Sides”. It’s the oldest commissioned warship on the water in the world! They’ve preserved the Live Oak forest that yielded its timber and have dedicated it for use in the ships restoration and preservation.
The H.M.S. Rose at Full Sail
I’ve got history with this ship. I’ve sailed upon her and also fought against her in a mock sea battle in Boston Harbor to promote the A&E Horatio Hornblower Series. It’s since been renovated for its use in the so-so movie, Master and Commander. It now serves as a sailing school vessel and has been renamed the H.M.S. Surprise

“What should we do with a drunken sailor?”
Was perched at a coffee shop with a few hours to burn, my travel case of pencils and black paper pad, a photograph and memory from the day before, and a steady flow of delicious coffee. I amassed an awkwardly large mound of pencil shavings as the colors layered onto the page. It feels like I’m learning something new every time I draw.
Rrrrrh, another one of me favorite shanties. Much respect to anyone that can sing and drum like this at the same time.
