Their harem is their source of comfort, like a comfort blanket almost. Their close family they’ve grown and kept safe in their mind’s eye. They don’t know where they’d be without their colony (including normal followers too, but the harem is extra special due to growing relationships with it instead of it being emotionally distance like a normal follower life).

But this harem isn't all sunshine and rainbows, no. It's still a cult made to cater to its God’s (even as this empire has been built to benefit its citizens as much as possible) every want and desire. A cult changes to how its leader wants it to see fit, like a blanket that’s always mended but its design often tweaked if it looks wrong or bad.

Despite the harem being mostly untouched with having a long line of spouses that range off from the Emperor's first days of rule, it's had a time a timeline where some spouses have ended up on the divorce chopping block. An extremely RARE one at that, but divorces exist even for the gods to execute with an offending mortal spouse. Empy has a high tolerance for their colony, with excusing many offenses (like murder, spying, dissent, and etc.) as long they have a way to reform a follower to come back and see their way. Normally if its a normal follower, if the said mortal did something REAAAAALLY bad to offend them, they'd normally execute death or send the follower for reformation in their stomach so Empy can reform that mortal's personality from the ground up to build that believer back up into something more beneficial for them AND their cult.

Of course spouses get this personal treatment too since Empy finds it difficult to let their spouses go with having an emotionally attachment to the said mortals. They believe everyone can be reformed to see the error of their ways, either gently or by force. However, if a said spouse were to ever do something real bad that felt like a betrayal to them, Empy is not above breaking a marriage with an ex-spouse if the emotional pain is sever. It IS super rare for them to do such a thing.

When it happens though, Empy doesn't let these exes live for long either. Immediately after a divorce, the Emperor will sacrifice the ex since Empy had been the one to keep the spouse excluded from their death contract. With them, its eternal happiness and a forever life by their leader's side, to know everything about them in their entirety. But if it feels like it has been broken from the mortal's end in any way, the Lamb will turn that follower into pure devotion as a soul returning back to the heavens.

It's a price to be paid when the said follower would've collected a life long debt of being resurrected every time after every death (when the immortality necklace isn't keeping it alive). Plus,,, A leader doesn't like any loose strings to be lost. Can't have any loose lips going around if they can't keep track of the said ex after that. Any children they've had with the ex spouse will still be kept alive, but it comes at the price of doing some mind altering memories so the kids never remember that mortal parent though.
