Edward is so alarmingly docile about the Port Angeles incident compared to Edythe. I have PLENTY of issues with that scene in Life and Death, but Edythe's rage hits so much harder than Edward's

Edythe feels more Edward than Edward.

In the sense that Meyer—10 years, completed main series, and a half-done Midnight Sun manuscript later—is familiar enough with Edward that she's soft-retconning him in Twilight through Edythe.

And honestly? Same logic applies to Beau and Jules.

Beau having more personality than Bella? It's cause Meyer wrote 3 more books of Bella.

Jules and Beau having more chemistry and witty banter than Jacob and Bella did in "Scary Stories"? Meyer already wrote New Moon.

Of course, my only reference point is the @threebooksoneplot podcast since I'm movies-only when it comes to the OG series. So, I could be wrong.

Food for thought, though.

It always struck me as odd that SM spent so much time creating eternally young, gloriously beautiful vampires but then made a point to say that Joss (and I believe James as well in the OG saga) was plain-looking. Well, sis, I reject that! NEW FACE CLAIM: Samara Weaving as Joss (especially the horror energy she brought in the Babysitter films). Definitely channeling Baddie Joss as she gets ready to go a-hellin’ (as we say where I come from in West Texas) in my fic. Such a fascinating character.

Replace Bella and Edward with Edythe and Beau, respectively, and this resonates with both of our AUs, @stivesketch lmaoooo. Also, I would read *the fuck* out of such a Twilight AU. Surely someone’s written something like this, but I wouldn’t know where to begin. The larger Twilight fandom is scary and gigantic so I don’t know the lay of the land well/what’s going on in there. I stick to the Life and Death niche lmfao

I don't have any dom Bella & sub Edward recs to give since I also barely venture out into the wider fandom, but I gotta say; Bella wearing the pants in the OG relationship proves that Beau being human has nothing to do with him being submissive.

He just likes it that way, and so do I.

Also, props to Meyer for writing the girls domming the boys in both cases; gender-swap notwithstanding.
