2018 was a wild ride, and 2019 is shaping up to be even better!
A collection of pictures from my recent trip to Point Pleasant, WV. Over the course of 1966-67, the town was a hotspot of paranormal activity. Men in Black returned to the spotlight after ten years of supposed dormancy. Friendly spacemen from the planet Lanulos, among others, made contact with several residences of the Ohio Valley. And, last but not least, the infamous Mothman made his first appearances in and around the town. If you believe that sort of thing, of course. I happen to know a few people who do. Finished the final re-type of DenCom 2 last night at 3:30 AM. This also marks a new personal record with nearly 11,000 words written in one day. Next step is a quick proofread before it heads to the editor in January. We're still a long way out from release, and we may be cutting the book down from what's seen here, but for now, I couldn't be happier with what's on the page. I'll keep you all posted as the book progresses, but for the moment I think I need a break. Leaving on a "research" trip tomorrow. The Ape Canyon Bigfoot attacks are one of the most famous Cryptozoological events. The encounter happened in 1924, two miles east of Mt. St. Helens, in a canyon now dubbed Ape Canyon. Five miners were asleep in their cabin the night that it happened. They awoke abruptly to crashing noises, seemingly out of nowhere, as rocks began pelting the building. The Sasquatch-like beings they encountered were said to be at least seven feet tall, covering in black/brown hair. The miners stirred from their beds, took up their rifles, and began firing into the directions the rocks were coming from. One of the miners, Fred Beck, claimed to have hit an attacking Bigfoot as he fired his rifle.
“It was not long before I saw one of the apelike creatures, standing about eighty yards away near the edge of Ape Canyon. I shot three times, and it toppled over the cliff, down into the gorge, some four hundred feet below.”
The miners fled soon after the attack resolved, not bothering to pack their equipment or supplies. All they took were items they could carry on their backs.
