STFU Hatemongers

I have this girl on my friends list who has been around a good decade so I’d feel bad about deleting her. 

I am writing this story here in the hopes that anyone who googles this business will see it.  More than 48 hours ago I encountered the owner of this business on a local newspage. She was arguing with a large group of people and she was using the term “libtard”. People from all sides of the political spectrum asked her to stop or edit her previous posts. This just caused her to argue more.  It was two in the morning.  I went to her page and saw that she ran this business I had heard about before (small town stuff) and made a remark about it in that thread. I screenshot one of her posts and posted it on my Facebook page with the comment “think about who you give your money to”.  Then I fell asleep. I woke up to hundreds of posts and messages. Most were threatening but some were simply defending Dotti.  For the rest of the day I received messages saying they had pictures of my children, my home address, and my husband’s workplace. They said it was “open season” on me.   It wasn’t until late last night when I discovered where the people were coming from. Dotti had taken my personal info and posted it in no less than six “deplorables” pages on Facebook. She included a made up exaggerated story about me contacting all of her clients. I did not contact her clients as I have no way to do that. Dotti blocked me immediately after I posted her business name in the thread, so there was and is no way for me to get into her facebook page and contact anyone she knows. I wouldn’t anyway, but that’s besides the point. 

The people began to threaten me with CPS and the police. (Again the only thing I did was post a screenshot of ONE of Dotti’s offensive posts on a local news Facebook page.) They found my son’s Youtube page where he posts videos of him playing Minecraft and started to harass him as well. He simply took the videos down. 

I reposted one of the threatening messages on my facebook page and Facebook responded by locking me out of my page.  The threats continued after my page was locked down and I have no way to respond. Most of them are filtered and I am grateful for that.  I understand that half of those people are just trying to stand up for Dotti based on what she told them .. but to go after little children and post a picture of their home with their address on large groups (one had more than half a million people) with words like “open season” and “civil war”, is just terrifying and ridiculous. 

We found that a lot of the posters were using fake profiles so there is not a lot the police can do, and as you know, they won’t do much with an actual physical threat anyway.  Nevertheless, Dotti’s extreme reaction to someone calling her out for her own words is terrifying. It is terrifying that these hate groups exist. It is terrifying that so many people make threats of this nature over someone not wanting to do business with someone else. This is what our country is now.  Of course, I’d rather be talking about these immigration raids (I am worried about the mothers who come to get their children from the schools I work in and the schools my children attend), or abortion rights, or healthcare, but I have to take the time to write about this, not only because it is personal, but becomes it underlines a disturbing trend I have noticed over the last year. 

And the person who did it is this lady.
