So many people think because Derek is a little older that there would automatically be a power imbalance and he would have all the power in the relationship.

Stiles: I guess a kanima is like an evil bulbasaur...

Derek: Baby?

Stiles: Yes?

This guy is kind of similar to him. Cocky and sure of himself in a way that speaks of years of experience. His brown wavy hair is the same shade as Eli’s and his brown eyes are warm as they ask him if he’s okay and if he’s hungry and if he needs help. Eli is suspicious, and questions the stranger. But Stiles (at least that’s what the guy said his name was) shows him his FBI badge and photos of himself with his team.

So Eli follows him to a hole in the wall restaurant. And he lets the guy ask questions and he lets the guy lecture him and then, resigned and tired and finally realizing he’s totally in over his head, tells Stiles that he’s from Beacon Hills.

Stiles gets a strange look in his eyes as he responds that he’s familiar with the town and was actually about to go visit family if Eli wanted to tag along. Suspicious but still about to go along with it, Eli asks to borrow his phone, typing in his grandpa’s number just for it to pop up in this seemingly stranger’s phone as ‘Dad’.

“Stiles? Everything alright, son?” The sheriff asks in greeting.

And this, ladies and gentleman, is how Eli finds out that Stiles is, like, that Stiles. The one that’s mentioned in every story but never named. The bad-ass that saved his dad and his grandpa’s life on too many occasions. The guy that defeated an ancient evil demon. The guy that always put himself in danger for the safety of others.

The trip back home isn’t long, but Eli is starry eyed the entire time. He asks questions and Stiles—after talking to his dad briefly—answers them absently (not that Eli has even noticed, too blinded by his hero worship).

Stiles is “sooo sweet and funny” and it always “ruins the vibe” when his scary boyfriend walks in the frame. People saying how it was cute at first but now they’re worried that Stiles can’t express himself or whatever.

my fave thing with so many ships of mine is when people around the ship assumes one is getting abused but they’re actually exactly where they want to be. especially when the context is important lol

like Derek is an Alpha werewolf and Stiles is part of his pack and the Alpha mate so there’s reasons why the whole relationship comes off a certain way to outsiders. also Stiles is into it and is perfectly content and happy with their dynamic and overall relationship.

can you imagine Stiles getting to college and being like yeah im like 18-19 year old and married and my man is older and rules over my entire life and you can’t meet him because he’s a very busy man in charge of something Big and Important that i am also a part of but had to leave behind to study. now it looks like my man is controlling and making my life difficult because i dared to leave his control to go study.

Stiles: monologs about how people are always using Derek for his looks but it's not like he asked to look like a real life Prince Eric.

Goon: describe what Peter Hale looks like

We have a mythology professor, Stiles, who is a super-geeky, extroverted, funny, and best-friend-to-the-students kinda professor who is an oversharer. And he often talks about his super hot husband, how they met, how they fell in love, got married, and have a son.

Then we have maths professor Hale, who is strict and tough and never utters a word about his personal life, and a mystery to the students.

The only reason the students even found out these two are married is because, one day Mr. Hale had to use his personal laptop for the projector and his homescreen was stiles holding their son.

Doesn’t really matter the reason behind why that is. but the most obvious one would be because Derek is a werewolf.

Stiles being stubborn as hell, wouldn’t let it get to him, it would make him love Derek more out of fucking spite lol

But Derek wouldn’t handle it well at all actually. It would plague him. The way Stiles gets treated just for being in love with him and choosing to stay with him.

It would become a vicious cycle too. because Derek would become protective as hell and defensive and would make it all worse for the both of them by defending Stiles (and their relationship) any chance he gets.

Being the person he is, it ends with him breaking up with Stiles of course. better that way for Stiles. But Derek isn’t good at thinking of the worst in people despite getting fucked over by so many people in his life. He severely underestimates how fucking awful people can truly be to their own kind, their kin.

People won’t leave Stiles alone just because he isn’t with Derek anymore. Stiles is tainted now. To these people, his relationship with Derek is what defines him entirely. So Stiles is still getting judged and treated like shit, maybe even more so now because Derek isn’t there to support and protect him.

Stiles who’s already so vulnerable from getting his heart broken and trying to cope, can’t really handle the judgements and harassment as well as he used to. Anger can only take him so far and being angry with Derek isn’t something he’s good at to begin with, it’s always hard to stay angry because Derek always tries to do things in good conscience.

So he’s left trying to deal with everything on top of getting harassed by bigots. maybe even his own dad isn’t that much of a support in this. His dad never approved of Derek and made that very clear from the get go. He never outright ordered Stiles to stop seeing Derek but it was heavily implied. When he got home the night Derek broke things off, he had been a mess and his dad had just said something like “about time”.

Scott is dating a hunter so Stiles had taken a big fucking step away from their friendship. Derek’s betas were following orders which meant they gave Stiles a wide berth. So Stiles finds himself with little to no friends in a town that pretty much sees him as a disgusting traitor slut.

A shit storm is brewing for him and Stiles knows it. He doesn’t know how things will blow up but they will. Things have been escalating, the harassment getting really bad lately. He started receiving threatening texts from unknown numbers. He was certain he was getting followed when driving the jeep in town.

He tries to ignore it all because there’s not much else he can do about it but it’s getting harder and harder to ignore.

It becomes downright impossible when Stiles turns into his driveway after class one afternoon and finds the house spray painted with the words “BITCH” in bold red and large lettering.

It’s too much, it’s the last straw. He gets out of the jeep with difficulty, his legs shaking so hard he can barely walk. He looks at the red letters and just shakes. A whirlwind of emotions in his chest, in his throat, almost choking him.

He already knows how things will go. His dad is gonna blame him for it. He’ll look at Stiles with barely contained disgust and tell him to clean it up and Stiles will do it… he fucking will and then he’ll just pretend nothing happened.

It’s suddenly unbearable, he can’t do this anymore. He pulls at his hair for a moment, tears gathering in his eyes before clumsily taking his phone out of his pocket and making a call.

When it keeps ringing with no answer Stiles’ tears start falling, helplessness overwhelming him almost completely.

He’s about to hang up but then his call is answered.

“Stiles? what is it? are you okay?” Derek’s voice is full of concern and the second he hears it, Stiles breaks down completely.

Things get a bit blurry after that. Stiles is hysterical on the phone, Derek telling him over and over to stay put to stay where he is, i’m on my way Stiles okay? baby, stay there i’m coming.

Derek and the betas show up a few minutes later. Derek sees the spray-painted word on the house and immediately realizes he’s been a fool. He goes to Stiles and pulls him hard to his chest and Stiles doesn’t protest, he’s still hysterical and saying things Derek can’t really make sense of at the moment.

The betas are all disgusted and angry. They immediately get to work to clean the house and a few hours later the word is gone but it’s engraved in Stiles’ mind. It’s all he sees when he goes to bed later that night in Derek’s arms. Derek who spent hours apologizing and promised to make it up to Stiles.

The next day Stiles tells Derek everything. About the escalation of harassment and such. Derek takes his phone and crushes it in his fist and takes Stiles to get a new one with a brand new number. He installs a dash cam on the jeep. Stiles doesn’t go anywhere unaccompanied, at least not until things calm down.

Quickly, in town it becomes known that Stiles and Derek are back together and that the Alpha has closed ranks and doubled down on Stiles’ safety. Things get a bit better. People stop being outwardly nasty to Stiles and he doesn’t get followed anymore. He doesn’t get a new wave of anonymous texts.

But it’s when Stiles is seen with Derek’s very visible mating bite at his neck that things truly stop. It’s like Stiles becomes invisible. It’s like he’s died. People in town never look at him in the eyes anymore.
