+ 1 lance
Despite his attitude, Forde did know that training was very, very important (he’d been lectured enough that he could tell you how important it was in a 10 minute speech. Not that he wanted to). He also knew that since the war, favouring the lance meant that his skill with the sword wasn’t what it used to be.
However, sword practice required a sparring partner, and he didn’t feel like finding one. Javelin practice on the other hand? It was easy enough to throw a lance around, long as he didn’t hit anyone.Â
That being said, when someone called him over for a chat, he wasn’t complaining about the break.Â
“Oh, Tethys?” Though he hadn’t seen her since the war ended, she was unmistakable. “It’s great to see you again, I didn’t know you were at the academy.” He also didn’t know that she knew his name (but he was pleased about it). And she’d been looking for him? And watching him train? He was pleased about that too.Â
“I do my best.” He says, casually twirling his lance in his hand. Somehow, he doesn’t drop it. “According to the academy, I’m a master lance fighter.” He chuckles, the way this place did classes was fun.
“Anyway, you came at a good time, I was just finishing here.” He wasn’t, but he might as well. “We can talk now, how have you been doing?”
Seems she hadn't lost her charms after all. Forde seemed more than pleased to speak to her, a little flush in the face and his eyes bearing just the right amount of excitement. Well, her plans would work then. She'd play him like a fiddle and reap the rewards of whatever that mysterious lad wanted. Nobody would really get hurt, so it wasn't so bad, right?
"Yes, it's so great to see you. How impressive that you train so much! I really admire a man with diligence." "Yes, I've arrived not too long ago myself. This place really is nice."
If he was here, she wondered how many others were here at the academy. Well, not that it mattered much. What was the best way to ease into this....
"I'm sure you've practiced quite hard with your lance, Forde," Tethys tells him. "Very admirable." A little fluttering of her eyelashes and she waits.
Oh, so he was free? "I just had a friendly favor to ask. You know, since you've done all that lance work......can you help me with the lance exam? I'm so very bad at these things."
