Quaritch is a man who will only do the right thing when he has no other choice and Spider cares about other people. I think it's inevitable this will get more complicated as Spider knows Quaritch will do anything to protect him but he will still attack the people Spider cares about at the same time.

Spider can bring truce but only for those moments when the enemy sides have no other choice but to cooperate. When that's done they are still enemies and Spider has to watch Quaritch try to destroy everything he loves. Quaritch is unwilling to really change. I suppose this is why it will hurt so much. Spider will know he's loved but he's still not being seen.

It's like those stories about family members fighting on opposite sides of a war. Always messy. Always tragic.

I never quite believed in the redemption story for Quaritch as that requires self-reflection and wanting to change and Quaritch isn't there. Not yet at least. But I believe that this split in loyalties between need to protect Spider and wanting to serve RDA will come to clash eventually. Who Quaritch becomes and, possibly Spider's future, depends on what happens then.
