I wonder if that was supposed to be some new kind of Na'vi. Their eyes are so orange and have no whites. And then there are those rounder ears and blond hair. We don't see skin color under Mangkwan paint.
Maybe this design wasn't used because it isn't yet time to introduce this kind of Na'vi. But we saw more biomes in concept art. It even looks like Quaritch will end up somewhere snowy next time.
I know damn well that Quaritch is not complaining about Burns's purring! When he would most definitely purr the most and the loudest whenever he is near Spider!

I think if the Colonel is sentimental enough to name his ikran "Cupcake"(omg, I really hope that's actually true 😭), then when it comes to bonding with his son Spider, he could've put his resourcefulness to use and gotten him some... Anyways the na'vi being blue and having stripes for camouflage (even if they're not the darkest often) implies that their prey have tritanopia, or blue-yellow colour blindness.
It's the same thing with tigers. Might seem strange why they're bright red-orange until you realise most animals have 2 cone cells, blue, and a red-green cone cell, while humans have a cone cell specifically for green meaning we can differentiate the two.
So in dichromate vision, a tiger looks more like this.
So if we apply this to Na'vi, being blue means that their prey would also be dichromatic, but in this sense they'd be blue-green colour blind, meaning they have no blue cone cell in their eyes.
So to them, the na'vi would look something like this.
And ofc blue is just closer to green in general, anyways good night.
