Is it better to be honest
because I don’t really think
there’s anything of much value
for me to talk about
anymore
of much value for me to think about
anymore
of much value for me to say
anymore
of much value for me to do
anymore
and of much value for me to continue for
anymore
but I’m not allowed to say goodbye
because people see value in me
and to break blissful ignorance
would only make them cry
so I stand around and break
rocks off stones
just to pass the time
to keep others happy
just to make them smile
whereas I see no value
in these things I do
at least some people
seem to

If anyone ever calls you out on making pictures of everything you see, ignore it. I am so happy to be part of a generation that can solidify and eternalize memories and if that means that you make tons of selfies and the best angled food instagrams, you do you. You’ll be happy to have the memories later in life and no one can take that away from you.

Dancing on someone else’s tunes;
Feeding to someone else’s desires;
Trying ridiculously hard to fit in;
Into that little box that everyone has confounded themselves too; The box filled with people who are casual. 
Just how it’s perfect.
Not too loud.
Not too shush.
You will jump into that box; with a stone tied to your own thoughts. As you as you jump in, your thoughts start drowning, reaching the bottom with no potential to come up; you will look down at your feet but they no longer bear the weights of your dreams. You would not be able to find your ground and hold yourself still. You would have to make work with the already present thoughts there. The thoughts of others. Not yours.
You could have been a great piece of art where you were but you made the wrong decision; and now, you can either stay there, jeopardising your wants and compromise
Or,
go deep down, pick up your thoughts, remove the stones, and swim back to the shores. 
But you’re too weak for that.
Aren’t you?

A lot of the criticisms on our generation towards taking pictures of everything with our phones is basically ableism, classism, and racism. We’ve created the social media culture, that we control. And that angers the boomer generation because they’re not in control of what gets popular. What’s considered art. And that’s what we’re creating with the pictures we take. They try to make it seem vain or immature. People are making actual art by just taking pictures with their phone. It’s a tool that’s widely available to all types of people. Those with disabilities, those who are poor, and minorities. It wasn’t so long ago that art was only being valued by rich white abled people. And now that we’ve created a new platform that we’re in control of they’re trying to take that away from us. When you take that small bite out of that cookie you just bought at a local cafe and you place it ever so lightly next to your cappuccino, and you take the picture and put a filter on it to bring the mood to life and share it with all your friends.. that’s art. It’s no different than all the paintings of fruit in a bowl placed next to a window. It’s just now it’s viewed by the world and your background doesn’t influence whether it’s valuable or not. When you go to the park with your friends and they’re all wearing something that coincides with the other and they pose in front of a fountain and you snap that picture it’s art. You take the thousandth picture of your pet doing something cute it’s art. The sunset moves you so you capture it with your phone and you deepen the contrast that’s art. Photography is an art and social media gives you the platform to share your art. So don’t ever feel lame for enjoying taking pictures of your meal, or your selfie, or going all out and doing photo shoots with your friends. Because every time you share your art you challenge the people who want to take that opportunity away from you, and in my mind that’s bad ass.
