Pen and ink

I've been combing through your past finding things I shouldn't have; coins and razorblades, surprises and disappointments. Cataloging your greatest accomplishments as secrets. Wrapping you up in a series of cigar boxes hidden underneath furniture, camouflaged by empty cough suppressant bottles and cigarette papers you took the tobacco from. The more I learn, the more I already knew. I know this is my invasion, an un-granted access into your thoughts that I shouldn't have. I've gotten so bad that I feel no remorse in prying. My thirst to understand has killed my compassion. I am a scientist and you are my are my case study. Each day I travel through your shadows waiting to stumble into the light, where I know, for this, I will burn.
