Lucifer x MC x Satan Fic Part 30/???
Nodding, MC felt a single tear fall down her cheek as Lucifer avoided her gaze. Clutching the necklace in her hand, she returned it to its box before finally closing the lid.
Completely silent, Lucifer stood up and slowly walked toward the door before disappearing out of the room. He kept his head down as he walked. As soon as the door was opened, Asmo was revealed on the other side.
The moment he saw Lucifer’s unreadable expression and MC slumped over on her bed, he immediately knew something had happened.
Lucifer glanced up at his brother, giving him a quick stare before pushing past; retreating to his study where he would hide for the remainder of the long day.
And for the remainder of the week.
Watching him walk away, Asmo quickly slipped into the room before rushing over to MC. “Sweetie, what happened?” He asked in a panic, noticing her tear stained cheeks.
Sitting on the bed beside her, he pulled her in for a hug; allowing her to silently weep into his chest. “He told me he loves me, As.” She breathed shakily, remembering every single one of Lucifer’s words.
“Oh my!” He quickly gasped, shocked by the revelation. “What did you say?”
Pulling out of the hug, he gripped her by the shoulders as he gawped into her eyes expectantly. Even he - the Avatar of Lust - hadn’t anticipated Lucifer coming to his senses and admitting his feelings. He knew that whatever MC said, it would have been a difficult decision for her to make.
“I told him the truth.” She breathed, “I can’t be with him, As. I know that for the longest time I have loved him, but he’s hurt me enough to not be able to trust his word anymore. For months now I wanted to hear him say that he loves me but now that he has, I’ve realised I can’t accept it. What I did was for the best and the right thing to do, but I can’t help but feel completely numb. I hurt him by doing the exact same thing he did to me.”
“I know it’s difficult MC, but please don’t forget that he hurt you first!” He reassured, “he brought this on himself. You knew that you would have been a fool to run back into his arms; he had his chance.”
“I know...” she nodded, “it was just...it was just really hard. I’ve never seen him look so...hurt. And it kills me that I’m the one who made him feel that way.”
“I know, sweetie.” He agreed supportively, giving her a gentle squeeze as he smiled sadly.
Suddenly MC hesitated. Letting out a sigh, she turned to Asmo with teary eyes, “and I’ve realised now that because of his actions, I can’t bring myself to love Lucifer anymore.” She confessed, leaning into Asmo’s side.
“You don’t love him?” He questioned confused. Although he may have been aware of a spark between Satan and MC, he didn’t realise that her feelings for Lucifer seemed to have ceased.
He thought that she’d just rejected him because of how he’d treated her; he didn’t realise her feelings had lessened too.
“Well, I still feel something for him. I probably always will.” She corrected herself, “but lately I’ve realised that over time I fell out of love with him.”
“And who can blame you with the way he’s treated you?” Asmo asked.
“It’s not just that though.” MC confessed, running a hand through her hair. Biting her lip, she wondered whether she was ready to admit her feelings aloud.
Was she even ready to admit them to herself?
“Oh?” He questioned knowingly.
“Because of my pining for Lucifer, I hadn’t realised what was in front of me this entire time. Last night when everybody was sleeping, I was still awake.” She began telling her anecdote, “it was really late but I couldn’t possibly try and sleep with how much my mind was racing.”
Asmo was sat on the edge of the bed, practically shivering with anticipation.
“I didn’t know why but...I couldn’t stop thinking about Satan.” She admitted, “so I went to see him.”
“What did you do?” Asmo whispered, completely fascinated by their blossoming love story as he stared at her with wide eyes.
He hadn’t known that MC had seen anyone since returning from the ball.
“We kissed again.” MC smiled subtly to herself, reminiscing about their night together. “And then I stayed with him.”
“Did you...?” Asmo asked curiously.
“No!” MC shook her head quickly, “Satan just...I guess he could tell I was confused so he just held me in his arms. I’m glad that’s all we did though. I think if anything else happened it would only mess with my heart more. Especially given that Lucifer had been waiting for me in my room.”
Asmo was batting his eyelashes; finding MC’s story so wondrous. Seeing that small twinkle in her eye, and the ghost of a smile that appeared on her lips, he knew exactly how MC was feeling.
“You love him, don’t you?” He asked quietly.
Hearing it aloud, MC immediately knew what her heart was feeling. There was no more being oblivious; especially now that Lucifer was out of the picture.
Although she hadn’t realised at first, her feelings had been clear for a long time.
“I do.” She whispered sheepishly as her cheeks grew rosey. “I love Satan, As”
Even MC couldn’t believe the words that fell from her lips.
Asmo smiled warmly at his best friend as he watched her fluster. “I know he makes you happy, MC.” He spoke admirably. “And I know what you did today was the right decision.”
“Thank you, As.” She sighed.
“Are you going to tell him then?” He then questioned abruptly.
“No.” MC shook her head, “not right now at least. Lucifer’s only just left and it wouldn’t feel right. I need a break from everything; some time to heal in order to come to terms with these feelings. I wouldn’t want to say something and then be accused of using Satan as a rebound. It’d kill me if he thought that’s how I see him.”
“I understand.” He nodded.
Asmo wanted nothing more than to scream in MC’s face ‘SATAN IS IN LOVE WITH YOU!’ but he knew she had to discover that herself.
I mean given the way he acted around her, Asmo thought it was obvious enough as it is.
“In fact, I wouldn’t mind just staying up here for a while.” MC breathed, pulling out her D.D.D, “I’m supposed to be making breakfast with Satan right now but I don’t want to see him when I’m still emotional. I want the time to be right between us before I say anything.”
“Absolutely.” Asmo agreed, “moments like that have to be perfect.”
Nodding at his words, MC began typing away on her D.D.D; informing Satan that she wouldn’t be down for breakfast.
“Is there anything I can get you?” He asked, watching her send the message.
“No.” MC shook her head, “I’m okay thank you, As.”
“Alright.” He breathed, standing up from the bed as he gazed in awe at MC. “Just take your time, won’t you sweetie?”
“I will.” she nodded, returning the small smile.
Asmo was a little disheartened as he left MC’s room. He knew she wanted to be happy but the burden of upsetting Lucifer constantly weighed on her shoulders stopped her from feeling that way.
Letting out a sigh as he walked, he began to wonder if he should have left MC by herself or not. What if she were to break down and he wasn’t there to be by her side?
Meanwhile, laying back in her bed, MC let out a deep breath as a further tear fell down her cheek.
The image of Lucifer repeated on her mind; torturing her as she fell back into a slumber.
Across the house, staring at his D.D.D, Satan felt his heart ache as he read MC’s message.
‘I’m really sorry but I can’t make breakfast now - I’ll make it up to you.’
The words were like salt to his wound. Not only had Lucifer finally confessed his feelings to MC just as Satan thought something was established between the pair, MC had now cancelled their plans they’d made.
Satan wanted to be angry but he couldn’t find it in himself. No matter how much MC had upset him, he couldn’t bring himself to feel wrath because of her. Not when he held her so dearly in his heart.
Oh how he loathed Lucifer.
Oh how he hated the way the eldest brother had toyed with MC’s feelings and yet still somehow managed to be the one who found happiness. Satan lowkey was upset with MC - not for effectively leading him on - but for accepting Lucifer’s love.
He only hoped he didn’t hurt her again.
As his eyes turned bloodshot, holding back his angry tears, Satan’s thumb hovered over his D.D.D screen. Should he reply to MC?
‘No. You can’t do this to yourself.’ He insisted, ‘just let her be happy.’
Despite already hearing everything, Satan didn’t want to be reminded of MC and Lucifer. He only wanted to hide away from the pair of them.
Sighing, he eventually switched off his D.D.D, throwing it to one side as he cursed to himself.
Oh dear. It looks like everyone’s sad.
