(Kaijune Origins is a project I am doing where I am going back to my art from four years ago and redrawing and/or touching them up to better fit with the story and lore I have created for this month long art challenge)
Day 1: "Forest"
Kaiju Specification Number: KSN-001
Pseudo-Scientific Name: Phorusrhacos Ursinus
(Kaiju genetics are still mostly unresearched, so all scientific names are purely speculative in nature)
Colloquially Known as "Björn"
Description:Â
KSN-001, aka "Björn" is an giant arboreal mammal mainly believed to reside within the bounds of the Sequoia National Park in California. It's overall body plan is ursine(bear-like) in shape, with large, stocky limbs and a broad body and head, but field footage of its locomotion would suggest a closer relation to sloths and anteaters. It's fur is a mix of dark and light browns, with greens that are believed to be moss growing on the creature's coat.
Over the years, Sequoia National Park admins received reports from hikers and park rangers alike, regarding some unknown giant animal lurking in the forest. Large scratch marks in trees, strange noises from deep in the woods, and reflective eyes in the dark were common in eyewitness testimonies. Though they would promptly be written off as superstition. Most likely because the rangers in the Park service didn't know how to handle such a creature, so they'd rather pretend as though it didn't exist.
In December of 2018, a missing person's case was opened following a report from two parents who had lost their son hiking in the woods. After a several week-long investigation brought up nothing of substance, they had all but given up hope. When out of the woods, a low repetitive rumbling could be heard, accompanied by the raucous laughter of a young child. The rangers, following the parents who rushed into a clearing, witnesses the massive creature emerging from the forest, with the formerly missing child on its back. It gently lowered them to the ground, nudged him in the direction of his parents, and cautiously stepped slowly backward, as if surprised to see so many people all focused on it. It promptly returned to the woods, lumbering away into the darkness....Â
The boy had only minor scratches and scrapes, but was ultimately unharmed. He expressed disappointment in leaving his friend behind, referring to the beast as Björn, an ancient forest guardian. His specific role or purpose in the woods has yet to be discovered, but it should be noted that while "Björn" does not willingly interact with humans; it still maintains a docile, benevolent, and even protective disposition, albeit a bit lethargic for a creature of its size.
Additional containment is not needed, as Björn already prefers to stay within its forest home.
End of summary.
